If you cloak your arguments in enough layers of sarcasm, detachment, and crudeness, it can be a clutch to cover up your total lack of substance or nuance underneath. Anglin is guilty, ironically, of the same thing guys on the left like Chapo are. They’re insincere because if anyone saw their sincere positions, they’d have almost no support. Anglin can be funny sometimes, but I see no upside to associating with anything in his style.
@VinceChaos It's a topic that's kind of been beaten to death on the fringes, but suffice to say that we can't make any sure assumptions about Moly's identity, and so neither can we make any assumptions that he'll ever come around to advocating for ours.
@VinceChaos it was interesting to watch Molymeme go from ancap to populist during the 2016 election
For Christian IE/Identitarians I'm sure you are familiar with the website Faith and Heritage, and if you aren't you should be: http://faithandheritage.com
We’re metapolitical, not political. The fact that Molyneux is a bit too libertarian is of no concern. I like him
A friend of mine shared a podcast talking to one of the guys running the site that I thought was excellent:
You can find the link in this site: https://identitydixie.com/2018/11/26/rebel-yell-225-nathanael-strickland-faith-heritage/
He’s not a gatekeeper
@Bjorn - MD oh totally. Like Nate I just wanna have a long chat. Someone anyone should be on his show. Even just a call in
I like Molyneux, though I he doesn't get everything right, he's a good guy imo
We at least have to pitch and give him contact info
I read a little book Molyneux put out, The Art of the Argument. Very good, solid read.
@VinceChaos Yeah, I *have* thought that we should call in to FDR (Freedomain Radio), though his assistant, Mike, is probably a pretty sharp screener, so we'd have to be one point.
@MrBland - VA Yeah, it's on my list, though who knows if I'll ever get that far, lol.
It's a short read, like maybe 1-2 sittings
But good solid advice.
@NateDahl76 @VinceChaos At the same time, though, I also worry that, by getting too close, we could start bringing the heat down on his channel, or even his private life (like what's happened with Tucker).
The latter, while obviously being undesirable, would probably only boost his and our profiles, but the former would definitely hurt the cause.
Simple answer to that, and something we’re quite good at. Opsec!
🕵
I think the heat on Tucker was nothing but a good thing.
We need more of that.
As far as the cause is concerned, yeah, but we're also lucky that the antifa were more of the noodle-armed variety, rather than angel dust-addled nutjobs.
As they escalate it pushes normies and government toward our side, my thoughts anyway.
For sure.
If we can peacefully trigger escalation, well...
lmao that prager video on Israel is pretty e 🅱 ic, "we need to spend more on israel" the guy also looks like Bibi
@MrBland - VA That's one of our raisons d'etre 😎
@fgtveassassin Yeah. They're breddy much doin' our work for us at this point.
Then all gung ho on Molyneux then 😉
😎
If we do nothing? We will regret it. I’d love to call in to the show
Yeah, I'm just being squishy and equivocating. Peaceful escalation is the name of the game.
“Satire requires a clarity of purpose and target lest it be mistaken for and contribute to that which it intends to criticize,” as the meme goes. There is a tendency to defend everything someone like Anglin does or says because of an ostensible framing of satire. But when your publications are a gyre of ironic/non-ironic/meta-ironic/post-ironic content its impossible to differentiate memes from actual opinion- and that’s not the job of the reader. He’s managed to make himself into an irony-poisoned boy-who-cried-wolf analogue and he has himself solely to blame if what was supposed to be taken as satire is not. There’s a tendency in the “wider movement” to be unequivocally opposed to everything that comes out of the mouth of someone who isn’t a complete ideological analogue, which I think is harmful. Case in point, “the left” voices concern about rape or something and we get a (mercifully small) number of people who completely lose it and come up with “white sharia.” If someone with bangs says something about the need for Braille signs you get some autist in the YouTube comment section stating how we need to euthanize blind people or something. It’s the most mindless, miserable thing. “If they’re going to call you a monster might as well be one lmao lol!” is an attitude that has led to nothing but strife and I won’t associate with anyone who thinks along those lines. You shouldn’t either.
the pragerU fallout is wonderful
I wouldn’t call into Moly. Waaay too public
If he’s put on the spot, he’d probably rebuke us
@ophiuchus I'm going to be dense here, is there a particular group/person that post was focused on?
Oh gawd Prager that looks like a Torah, I would hope you're not spreading anti-semetic propaganda
@MrBland - VA no, just my piece on Anglin in general
@NateDahl76 Moly would do his whole "collectivism and identity politics are bad like Communism" bit.
