He was super buff tho
@William Russell Ya, that's the thing, it's hard to define. Dunbar defined it informally as the number of people you'd feel comfortable joining uninvited at a bar, but I'd be a bit unconfirmed doing that to *anyone*.
I would say anyone you talk to regularly. Like, they could contact you right now and you wouldn't think anything of it.
@StevePines -WA Should have gotten a German Shepherd because blacks don't like them
@Jacob I’ve got a solid 10 twitter followers so there’s that 😎
cool kid here
@Alex Kolchak - NY didnt follow me back
@Jacob I would say 20-30 based on the bar definition
Why would I have a santa hat when I don't celebrate Christmas?☪
One anthropologist proposes a Dunbar number of 290. Seems insane to me that you could even maintain passive relations with that many people.
I’ve worked for the public for nearly a decade tho
They had a German Shepherd but it was in a pair with another dog
I counted 14 stable social relations and I already find it difficult to maintain contact with everyone. No idea how I would possibly keep track of 150 people. @Asatru Artist - MD
@StevePines -WA like you had to buy both at a time?
I have well over 150+ I would engage in conversation with if I seen them in public tho. Just pleasantries or what not
Yeah
Apparently in some European countries they find them weird
@StevePines -WA weird
@Asatru Artist - MD Celebrating Christmas is blasphemy in my religion
@William Russell In Slavic countries blatantly fake small talk is super weird
Yea that’s what I’ve heard about Germany
They were codependent, they've lived with each other their whole lives and the shelter didn't want to separate them @Jacob
Germans disliking small talk? whack and unheard of
@NateDahl76 fix'd
What do you do when you make eye contact with someone you are acquainted with but don’t know well?
@StevePines -WA huh interesting
@William Russell up nod if know them better than average, down nod if less than average
@William Russell I either just ignore them, or I find something legitimate to talk about
I’m the king of small talk lol I wonder if people find it obnoxious
To be honest I generally ignore people who I don't know well
deep south anglo pleasantries require an intense dedication to small talk
I always make sure to initiate it I feel like I’m more likable they associate me with being friendly and kind of they don’t know me that well
That’s what it is @Sam Southern - TN
Yankees under appreciate it
eastern europeans + yankees
basically all non NW euro descendants lol
@William Russell Depends what kind of small talk. I find it uncomfortable if it's really blatantly fake.
Dixie Anglo
we've even tamed the bastard scots/irish folks to our ways
Hey how you been? That’s good. How’s so and so. Well it was nice seeing you. Bye
at a minimum lol
