I never studied into Nam much, so don't have strong opinions. I just know that holding a line is not the way to win a war and too many of our boys died on foreign soil.
@Sam Southern - TN angery
If you're anti-Israel you're anti-white case closed

Nam was a holy war
Deuce Velvet
Then we should have fought to win.

I just went back and read the conversation from earlier. Here's my take.
You can't compare modern immigrants to immigrants back then. The barrier of entry to be an immigrant used to be much higher. It took a lot of commitment to make the trip before widespread air travel across the ocean. You were also on your own. There was no resettlement organizations or anything.
To even compare post 19th century immigrants to actual settlers is a massive insult to the later. Even comparing post 19th century immigrants to pre 19th century immigrants is kind of insulting.
Immigaytion amirite
this but unironically ^
Gibson best take
That's true, but I'm not sure how far we should take that talking point, because white immigration is generally more harmful than good, too
As someone whose family came here in 1996, I give all of you permission to freely criticize immigrants. It's kind of like when your black friend gives you an N-card.
Someone was kind enough to point out a mix up of mine. I was actually thinking of this article not the podcast when I was talking about immigration. Old man brain lol:

Both were really good.
Also, it's interesting that people take the idea that earlier waves of immigration were beneficial as an a prioristic assumption.
Is there any evidence that past immigrants assimilated easily?
not really. anti-immigrant sentiment has been around since the irish got imported to build railroads and canals
immigrants didn't fit the Republican system because they usually did not own land
Not owning land meant that you were beholden to another, either the one whose land you lived on or the one for whom you worked. which meant that your vote was comped
Any time there's immigrants there's anti-immigrant sentiment
hmmmm makes you wonder what the common variable is
C O M P E D
That makes sense
Plus its hard to show up to mass every sunday when you are in the bush.
