@Kingfish Europeans play much much better with eachother than say, Asians, blacks, Arabs... literaly anyone else

2018-12-06 00:33:07 UTC

I didn’t say in comparison

2018-12-06 00:33:11 UTC

I just said in general

2018-12-06 00:33:22 UTC

A thousand years of warring isn’t exactly what I’d call peaceful

2018-12-06 00:33:33 UTC

There are times I wish that America was founded by Germans instead of Anglos, I think we would have a more cohesive identity and less libertarian nonsense, embedded deeply in the soul of the nation.

2018-12-06 00:33:39 UTC

citation: the fact america functioned with plenty of European migration

2018-12-06 00:34:01 UTC

@Kingfish family's fight

2018-12-06 00:34:12 UTC

I think the greater Europeanist concept is kind of a meme

2018-12-06 00:34:14 UTC

Is there any evidence that European immigrants assimilated well?

2018-12-06 00:34:18 UTC

@V.Balboa - PA same here

2018-12-06 00:34:27 UTC

Liberals like to bring up that point, but is it actually true?

2018-12-06 00:34:27 UTC

The American nation pre-1980 or so is a good example.

2018-12-06 00:34:45 UTC

Italian and Irish weren’t welcomed with open arms lmao

2018-12-06 00:34:47 UTC

yeah it looks like its going to be a great time

2018-12-06 00:34:57 UTC

When do liberals like to bring that up? @Jacob

2018-12-06 00:35:18 UTC

"But what you're saying is the same thing they said about the Irish and Italians and that ended fine"

2018-12-06 00:35:24 UTC

*Did* it end fine?

2018-12-06 00:35:24 UTC

More conventionally and despite it's neo-liberal and self destructive core, EU proves the ability for mutual cooperation. (It sucks but it's better than nearly all attempts historically)

2018-12-06 00:35:46 UTC

@Jacob liberals bring up that point with you? When they say we're a nation of immigrants in my experience, it's always not talking into account they're all white immigrants.

2018-12-06 00:35:58 UTC

I've definitely heard that quote

2018-12-06 00:36:13 UTC

That’s more Europe being ruled over by international elites and not a collaboration of national states working together

2018-12-06 00:37:25 UTC

An EU in concept isn't bad at all, it's current shepherds just hate us lol.

2018-12-06 00:37:28 UTC

@Jacob they assimilated well because they were European

2018-12-06 00:37:29 UTC

@Jacob I mean overall yeah it turned out okay. Italian American culture is a very unique and rich one which I personally really like. Same with Irish American. They’ll never quite be one or the other though

@⚡Clark⚡ @Kingfish I mean, sure, now, a century later it turned out fine. But I feel like the fact that any time there's high levels of immigration in American history, there's always anti-immigrant sentiment, it kinda begs the question of what the common variable is.

2018-12-06 00:40:47 UTC

Also this might be worth reading

2018-12-06 00:41:30 UTC

Sean Last admittedly has some pretty bad takes sometimes, but this is an interesting article

2018-12-06 00:42:03 UTC

@Jacob naturally, different culture will clash. However the response to the aforementioned liberal argument that “Italians an Irish assimilated, why not everyone else?” Is that because they were white

2018-12-06 00:42:51 UTC

@Virgil hell yeah

2018-12-06 00:44:29 UTC

@⚡Clark⚡ I'm not so much discussing how to respond to the argument, I'm more discussion the fact the premise is wrong in the first place

2018-12-06 00:46:23 UTC

I think the premise is quite accurate. Italians, Irish, and similar immigrant groups are very much so assimilated

2018-12-06 00:46:36 UTC

to the anglo culture or to what
