not necessarily, i think. it's also a culture/modern problem issue: (1) in Asia, you're expected to grow up and get married and got a kid at some points. the parents expected you to hand them a grandkid. so you can almost expected all household to have 1-2 kids. (2) LGBT rights here are a mixed-bag of formally acceptance under the laws but social stigma still persists. a lot of LGBT people just grow up and carry on life like hetero-people or they don't marry. (3) modern Western values (as of current) are very lax around hooking up, divorces, etc. The lack of attachment makes it less likely for people to be committed to kids. For Asians, once married, we usually stay together for very long. although, this trend is getting rapidly revert as young asians like the "sexuality empowerment" in western culture. (4) younger generations are not as committed to a family as in the past (this also happens in asia, albeit at a slightly slower rate)
