your assumption is if we sway the culture one way, itll ultimately sway back another
that if we make governmental assertions, they will do the same
and the only solution is to cut off everyones access to making governmental assertions
Never understood that to be a libertarian pillar myself, but who knows what the kiddies are saying today? ?
no im just asking if thats your contention
Ah.. gotcha. .
@equal and opposite reaction statement
Yes. Look at the world. Big issues that don't require a political stance at all, and this phenomenon is being used to drive two opposing energies at each other.. while way slicker people run off with all the $$$
Energy in a different form. . So yes, I believe it's a science, and to me, it's pretty clear it can be manipulated.
I'm literally arguing that the big issues be solved via the culture
rather than politics
Me too 😆
but where we disagree is that I think politics ought to represent the truth, that it ought to represent the people who culturally stand for the truth
And the problem with your solution is that they arent holding back any punches
theyre pushing hard, politically and culturally
libertarianism is akin to sitting back and taking the punches like a good boy and then asking for permission to please believe what you want to believe
OK.. so, in a nation of so many differing opinions, morals, etc.. how do you propose a government doing so??
That is literally the best question you could've asked
And that's the 'equal and opposite reaction' I referred to..
We need to stop embracing diversity like it's some virtue to be praised above all else or protected. That is a virtue of liberalism which was the left wing foundation of the democrat party in the 90s which essentially became the modern republican party but fully realized in the libertarian party.
We need to reclaim our american heritage, that we all come from different backgrounds, but we are all united by a common culture, a distinctly american culture, and that can only be found in looking to our roots in christianity, in the founding fathers and documents, and to an extent in englightenment, but for every enlightenment value we emphasize like 2 christian values at least
but that there is SOMETHING that makes us all American.
that america isnt just a country filled with individuals, but a nation with it's own people and identity
I think this movement towards individualism and liberalism was a reaction to hitler and the nazi party and the horrific tragedies of the 20th century
And doing our best to avoid ever repeating such tragedies is important
but national identity, culture and pride isnt inherently wrong or evil
and embracing peoples various haritages isnt mutually exclusive to national culture and pride
All goes back to looking in the mirror. So many saying they have Jesus, yet nobody's at peace. Why? How can u ever build a strong society out of hollow individuals? You can't, and that's my point.
And i agree with you to an extent
but with a distinction as well
I think promoting the person, and personal growth is much more valuable than the individual, and individual growth
Call it what you like.. same thing to me
It's not
Person isn't an individual?
to be a person means to be someone with connections, social ties, that we aren't just ourselves but people with responsibilities to others
an individual is a human being in isolation, not that they dont have family or friends or community, but it is a disordered emphasis
bringing us back to christian american values
the country is built on families and communities, communities being built of families
the societal fabric is made up of families and the family structure
Is there some good discussion going on here?
the lefts attempt to deemphasize family and make public education take care of raising the kids is a clear example of the state trying to userp the role of the family in the culture and society
or the fact that blm Literally has in its manifesto that it desires to disrupt the traditional family system
