2019-10-12 17:25:50 UTC

Any great value 100-200 phones you'd recommend? I personally bought a 270$ mi 9t and I love it but it's a lil high end for the person I'm buying for

I think my chinky car phone mount wants to fuck

Is it better to get those magnetic ones ore the other type with the clamp

2019-10-12 18:35:42 UTC

Depends on your phone

2019-10-12 18:35:56 UTC

I can't use a magnetic one because of my special slowflake phone

2019-10-12 18:40:22 UTC

Yeah it always seemed weird to have a magnet right on your shit. what makes your phone incompatible with the magnet?

2019-10-12 18:41:56 UTC

2 screens

2019-10-12 18:50:32 UTC

What model

2019-10-12 18:54:11 UTC

ZTE Axon M

2019-10-12 21:44:39 UTC

@neetdev mi a series

2019-10-12 21:44:47 UTC

they come with android one i believe

2019-10-12 21:45:21 UTC

around 200 usd

2019-10-12 21:45:55 UTC

just overall decent phone

2019-10-12 22:38:18 UTC

I'll check it

2019-10-12 22:38:38 UTC

So far it's looking like a Moto g or umidigi phone

2019-10-12 22:55:39 UTC

Moto G series is usually nice, budget mostly vanilla-ish Android

2019-10-12 22:56:41 UTC

Xiaome Mi A2 is excellent for the price as well, and it's Android One. Not sure if it's getting 10 or not. I think the 64GB/4GB model is $170ish.

2019-10-12 22:57:45 UTC

There's a 32GB/3GB too. I think. There's definitely 3 models, I think they were 32/3, 64/4, 128/6.

2019-10-12 23:06:56 UTC

Man the a3 would be absolutely perfect if it wasn't for no nfc

2019-10-12 23:07:18 UTC

Just feels essentials with Google pay now

2019-10-12 23:32:58 UTC

same here

2019-10-12 23:33:03 UTC

nfc is more or less a must

2019-10-12 23:33:24 UTC

~~especially since my bank card broke~~

2019-10-13 00:04:21 UTC

no NFC is such a fucking deal-breaker now

2019-10-13 00:05:13 UTC

like I use my phone as both my bank card and the botnet rewards card at shops AND my public transport card

2019-10-13 00:20:27 UTC

USA is so far behind on a lot of places accepting contactless payment, and a lot of banks don't even issue NFC cards if you don't pay extra/have a "premium" account

2019-10-13 00:37:06 UTC

the fuck

2019-10-13 00:37:46 UTC

I have 6 cards, and 0 (zero) of them have contactless/nfc

2019-10-13 00:38:01 UTC

My parents have had contactless payment on their cards since around 2012-2013 onwards

2019-10-13 00:38:31 UTC

My original card didn't but when I changed plans with my bank for a better (((interest rate))) they gave me a proper NFC card

2019-10-13 00:38:43 UTC

didnt the eu or some non-american group of countries push for chip and pin for cards

2019-10-13 00:39:06 UTC

Still waiting for the day when there's some kind of Monocard that can hold multiple card info at the same time, so you don't need to rely on your phone

2019-10-13 00:39:12 UTC

Chip and pin SUCKS for user convenience

2019-10-13 00:39:21 UTC

Those chips wear out so fucking fast

2019-10-13 00:39:50 UTC

Such thing exists Matty, it's called the NFC Chameleon

2019-10-13 00:40:16 UTC

It's a card with 8 card slots and you can swap between them at any time

2019-10-13 00:40:24 UTC

Only my Amex and PayPal business debit card do NFC, the other 10 don't.

2019-10-13 00:40:50 UTC

@Droidbot yes, and if I pull that out in a store, they're gonna call the fucking cops

2019-10-13 00:40:51 UTC

We just updated to accept chipped debit at work. Fucking sad.

2019-10-13 00:41:35 UTC

@timsandtoms Mine STILL is swipe-only
