He hasn’t had a point since then tho

2018-12-31 06:47:14 UTC

He cared just long enough until he realized the money-making opportunity

2018-12-31 06:47:23 UTC

And then WHAM BAM, THANK YA MA'AM he went for it

2018-12-31 06:58:00 UTC

12 rules for life is kinda basically a self-help book

2018-12-31 06:58:24 UTC

which, yknow, sure, but i dont know why some people hype it so much. maybe i just dont get it

2018-12-31 06:58:55 UTC

because they give the guy money

2018-12-31 06:59:08 UTC

and once you give a guy money, you've got an investment in making sure he _stays_ being right

2018-12-31 06:59:24 UTC

that and JBP has that whole "defender of western civilization" myth going on around him... somehow

2018-12-31 07:02:16 UTC

yeah i dont get that. thats not what he even talks about mostly

2018-12-31 07:09:19 UTC

This might be a worthwhile read about the man: https://aerbook.com/maker/productcard-4283759-1875.html

I enjoyed *12 Rules for Life* for what it was.

2018-12-31 11:53:13 UTC

Would be so much worse if it weren’t just to sell books

2018-12-31 12:58:00 UTC

Talked to a coworker yesterday in fact about JBP. He brought it up in regards to Russian lit re: Solzhenitsyn. I spun my opinion to him to appear Carlson-esque (-ish? -ian?), always my goalpost if I am not among explicit pro-whites, or far left (where I can easily LARP Bernie bro). Said I think JBP is popular because of a combination of increasingly absent/inept fathers, and absurd rabid leftism that prompts all sort of reaction. I suggested that he read *all* of Solzhenitsyn's books.

I did not mention "200 years," but if he discovers it, neat. "The Gulag Archipelago" is certainly enough to make an intelligent man wary of any flavor of Bolshevism.

And good album

I always figured that Jordan Peterson was popular because he is something of a father figure in the lives of quite a few young men who grew up in single parent households.

When you look at the advice he gives, it's literally the same advice my father gave me. I mean, he literally tells people to clean their rooms. Yet he charges people for it, the guy's a huckster.

Jordan is selling you 1950s America under the delusion it isn't the seed of current year

2018-12-31 18:03:36 UTC

His underlying preposition is the same as athiestic protestantism: every individual is equally likely to be moral

2018-12-31 18:05:02 UTC

That preposition is the preposition of liberalism, republicanism, and basically our whole society. One problem. It isn't true. So you have to justify why it's never observed and this takes you down the slow decent into communism trying to make people morally equal

2018-12-31 18:07:16 UTC

The claim: all people have same access to God and equally likely to choose moral behavior is the root of protestanism, liberalism, neo Christianity and America. It's actually a claim of the statistical representation of human behavior. As such it's falsifiable. If everyone is equally likely to be moral then you should observe equal morality between population in average.

2018-12-31 18:08:10 UTC

But this is not true. Therefore it must be justified which is the seed of socialism and cancerous social engineering attempting to remove the non existent obstacles to equal moral behavior.

@Perihelion - CA Good insight. I’d like to build onto it, if I may. JBP seems to advocate an Erasmus / Arminian form of Christian belief. These theological frameworks give independent agency to the “believer”. In that a spark of the “likeness and image” are present and available to the adherent. I concur that it isn’t the statistic or scientifically accurate description of mankind. Well built arguments can be made for Arminian TULIP, but it lends itself to a more progressive vision on mankind.

Watching now. Super chat will get the questions.

2018-12-31 19:06:37 UTC

I actually ascribe to the arminian school but humans struggle with statistical thinking. *Everyone can* easily becomes *everyone does* or *everyone is equally likely*. I basically apply the bellcurve to eschatology. @Ryan -NJ
