I took a cultural studies class and it was kinda fun

definitely very biased

I'm pretty sure there was an actual Black Panther who would chat wiht my professor before every class lol. He wasn't even a student, he just showed up and talked wiht the teacher all the time

but still a lot of legitimate concepts

and I never got downgraded for disagreeing with the teacher

I don’t think the issue is that binary.

There is room for us, especially those of like mind, to entrench ourselves into academia.

Those institutions are arguably even more valuable than government in terms of social change. Hyper focusing on STEM or encouraging white youth to avoid college altogether doesn’t solve anything.

I ended up transferring for reasons unrelated to politics

@DeusVolk I think there's truth to that, but I've also read studies that less Americans are going to college and instead choosing trade schools. If people start giving up on college altogether, it could weaken its power on social dogma

but if I stayed, it would have sucked

I want to be a college history teacher for the reason of teaching people stuff that isn't garbage

if you have the temper to go through the system, definitely go for it

@DeusVolk You'd be right if I honestly believed a straight white man could get social science Tenure anymore. It is (and has always been) a personal and factional process.

If someone has the honest drive to be an academic and can hide their power level, I say go for it. Otherwise, why waste the time when more secure and profitable paths exist?
