He works in the semiconductor industry

2019-01-18 20:49:10 UTC

Pay is outstanding

2019-01-18 20:49:31 UTC

Went to high school with a guy who got a welding certification and made 40/hr after hs

2019-01-18 20:49:55 UTC

Is he union?

2019-01-18 20:50:08 UTC

Damn. Most I've ever made is $20/hr, and that was only during the midterm elections doing outreach and statistical modeling.

Clownworld writes itself

2019-01-18 20:50:48 UTC

@John O - I want to say it was a private Corp

2019-01-18 20:50:52 UTC

Just wondering, is "damn" considered profanity by the mods here?

2019-01-18 20:50:55 UTC

Trucking is underrated

2019-01-18 20:51:09 UTC

Not mutually exclusive

2019-01-18 20:51:30 UTC
2019-01-18 20:51:38 UTC

Owner/operator can make big money and work very little, or not at all if you hire a driver

2019-01-18 20:51:38 UTC

@Chris N. - CA not typically, unless used excessively or in conjunction with other words

2019-01-18 20:52:02 UTC

Everyone fearmongers about trucking jobs being gone in a few years due to automation. That's BS. Look on any job site and 1/4 of the jobs are trucking or driving-related.

2019-01-18 20:52:12 UTC

Thanks, @ophiuchus

2019-01-18 20:52:37 UTC

IT cert + experience go a long way

2019-01-18 20:53:07 UTC

If you don't have a family then over the road trucking is a great way to earn big bucks and buy a house before you settle down

2019-01-18 20:53:45 UTC

I absolutely love driving, so I'd do trucking in a heartbeat, but most places here in Cali require you to be 21.

2019-01-18 20:54:09 UTC

Which is totally fair. I wouldn't want someone with two years max of driving experience (18) driving an 18-wheeler, either

2019-01-18 20:54:28 UTC

They’re fun to drive too (non automatics) I used to work on trucks

2019-01-18 20:55:07 UTC

@Chris N. - CA my husband got his CDL in California after college. If you want a gap year before grad school it's very educational & interesting to throw a little blue collar work into your resume.

2019-01-18 20:56:52 UTC

Thank you! I'll certainly look into it, @missliterallywho 😃

2019-01-18 20:57:29 UTC

Didn't know that, very cool

2019-01-18 20:57:43 UTC

Id like to get one

2019-01-18 20:58:00 UTC

Cleopatra and the entire Ptolemic dynasty were Evropean Macedonians, which is correctly pronounced with a hard c

2019-01-18 20:58:15 UTC

@Chris N. - CA If you're intetested in trades, you could join the National Guard. I have a couple buddies who went in and got out with hvac certifications.

2019-01-18 20:58:49 UTC

@Valaska he can tell you all about it this weekend!

2019-01-18 21:01:15 UTC

@Virgil Thanks for the suggestion! My dad’s a military man, and he said his work in the chemical corps was a massive help later on in his career.

2019-01-18 21:01:15 UTC

You can make a good amount of money with a CDL @Chris N. - CA my dad makes $22 when he drives a garbage truck

2019-01-18 21:02:02 UTC

Of course Cali and what you were to do with it varies a lot but etc but if you got a job wih it you'd be sitting well for being 18

2019-01-18 21:03:35 UTC

Yeah, I’m trying to save up as much as possible in case I don’t get a good fellowship for grad school. Doing a trade while in college would be a massive benefit due to the pay. Thanks for the suggestions, friends. 😃

2019-01-18 21:21:07 UTC

@Dan - NY I really wish I knew that earlier about certificates

2019-01-18 21:22:07 UTC

I basically went to university because I thought I had to

2019-01-18 21:25:01 UTC

@Nemets To be fair, they also claim Mozart, Shakespeare, Hamilton, Julius Caesar and now Peter the Great. The fact that she was European is probably why they are claiming her.

2019-01-18 21:36:18 UTC

specialty trades that are less likely to be outsourced or automated are a good decision.
i got my degree a few years back, but am looking to get into becoming an elevator tech because of the high pay and projected growth

2019-01-18 21:47:15 UTC

I think I may have butt typed something, although I am not sure what or when. Please ignore and disregard.

2019-01-18 21:52:04 UTC

Welding is also a fantastic trade to make money in as you can apprentice in a union and start off making good dough.

2019-01-18 21:52:17 UTC

Lots of work on the east coast of Florida

2019-01-18 21:53:10 UTC

@Why Tea you have very good logical points and I see what you mean. Its understandable. Yes The difference with sound of Identitarian makes a remarkable improvement & much better strategy going forward. The old connotation of nationalist still falls back to old thinking & older folks still think its that way if they have no concept & just what the difference in todays right wing youth really is.😉
