haha the Gilette ad was from an affirmative action ad person
"Gillette opted to use Kim Gehrig, one of a new generation of directors showcased by the Free the Bid campaign, which attempts to hire more female directors into advertising."

"I’ve never seen that kind of negative engagement before. “It’s crucial to make the customer feel bad from the outset and then throughout the ad if you intend to sell to them effectively,” as David Ogilvy never wrote."
@apronandlace Yup. Unfortunately though they've been clearing out male directors and especially white males. Go take a look at the rosters of the top 10 production companies. Lots of women and lots of minorities.
@apronandlace 3/4 of my boards that i bid on have social justice in them.
Ironically, the people who liked the gilette ad the most were women .... Do many women buy razors for their men? I don't....

Someome else got hit with the ban hammer I follow but I'm not sure who
There is a major recession coming into film and tv now too. It's just now being felt by minor companies and independent contractors. I suspect they'll use this to layoff lots of men and white people. When they rehire afterward they'll hire using diversity quotas. Remember I said this...
I was actually told by a client once that i had too many white people so I hired a bunch of minority PA's. Needless to say he wasn't happy. When I mentioned that have my crew was jewish he said that didn't count.
*half
I'm still flabbergasted this conversation even happened but they're bolder now and that client is a "friend"
Lots of Executive search firms already have an overwhelming demand from clients to fine a minority for the role. They literally tell the recruiter not to bring forward white men
That doesn’t even cover the internal discussions and politics of promotions and what not
@Rick Flair They call it positive discrimination.
I'm not even kidding. I've heard the term used in board rooms at major ad aganecies in LA
@Rick Flair It's the same in academia; minorities and women are more likely to get hired. As far as I know they don't get tenure at the same rates though (suggesting the bar is lower for them when they're hired).
I work in oil/gas in Texas, it’s even spreading here
Jesus
tahts bad
*thats
I assumed engineering jobs would be immune for a while
They are, it’s more any HR, Finance, marketing roles
When it's over we'll all be answering to lesbian minority women
And I definitely don't have a problem with women but I do have a problem with this
That’s why self employment I thr futreally for wife’s
I'm trying to use my advertising knowledge to move into ecommerce
Funny enough I'll be selling to my enemy but all money is green so I'll take it
They are obstacles but not barriers. Just have to work that much harder .
We need to use IE as a way to network business activity as much as possible. We almost need to be come our own little wealth producing corporation. 900 white guys has got to be a gold mine waiting to happen.
The role of business networking that this org provides can’t be understated
I'm starting a business with the (longshot) goal of growth and potentially franchising to IE members in other states if things go well.
Absolutely
Also would be nice to be able to offer jobs to our guys if they lost work for one reason or another.
I’m in medical. I like the idea of starting a clinic with other people in the same field.
Yes we need a way to shield our people from unemployment.
Rural clinics that serve the aging boomers could be a potential gold mine
Doing stuff like diabetes
Subscription based primary care
I'm planning on talking with LA members about getting them on my sets. I have to be very very careful but I can definitely make that happen.
And if my ecommerce business works out I can hire whomever I like
