Just got out of my philosophy class. I’m torn between loving it and hating it. I’ve never felt cognitive dissonance so much in a single class, and especially not so soon! XD

2019-02-01 19:05:55 UTC

whats the CD coming from in the class?

2019-02-01 19:07:38 UTC

Liberal arts classes like philosophy are so rough. Sitting in Jew Ethics prof class rn. So hard to not expose my power levels.

2019-02-01 19:08:43 UTC

The CD? Not sure what you mean.

2019-02-01 19:09:13 UTC

Cognitive dissonance

2019-02-01 19:09:53 UTC

Pretend to hate yourself and you will get a B easily. (As aren't for white straight cis males in such classes)

2019-02-01 19:10:06 UTC

And yeah, I can see how that class would be rough. Philosophy is just annoying because I love it since it’s mentally engaging, yet I hate it since it’s not at all practical to be pondering the topics we’re on. I came here to study finance. But hey, at least I like philosophy that’s practical (i.e Stoicism).

2019-02-01 19:10:38 UTC

Oh, the cognitive dissonance came from debating Parmenides vs Heraclitus on the nature of change.

2019-02-01 19:17:10 UTC

@Chris N. - CA give me a quick rundown on what that means. It's all Greek to me.

2019-02-01 19:20:04 UTC

Will this get brought up before the first debate (In August probably)?

While im editing this video for the chicago action I cant help but be infuriated that entire cities and states can disregard federal immigration laws, but if a single citizen desides to bend a wire hanger in to a naughty shape, he can be ruby ridged.

My country is a f###ing joke and these scumbags have the audacity to call me evil

I'm never in these places haha I try to avoid them. I'm globohomos nightmare cause I never buy new stuff

2019-02-01 19:31:16 UTC

@Wood-Ape - OK/MN Parmenides argued that change is merely an illusion and never actually happens since for an action to occur, it is made up of an infinite numbers of steps from point A to point B, therefore it is impossible to complete such an action. Heraclitus argued that everything is constantly changing and nothing is ever the same since each interaction one thing has with another alters some aspect of it, so it is no longer the same thing. He took this down to even the atomic level (of course only logically since atoms hadn’t been discovered yet, but had been hypothesized).

2019-02-01 19:32:12 UTC

Interesting. Thank you.

2019-02-01 19:32:51 UTC

Heraclitus reminds me of my poor half baked layman's understanding of quantum uncertainty. No?

Unfortunately, I know next to nothing about quantum theory, but I would not be surprised if quantum theory backed up Heraclitus’ assertions, as logically, his points make more sense in my opinion. I made a logical counterargument against Parmenides during class, but could not make one against Heraclitus.
