2016-09-21 18:22:34 UTC

idk what you want out of life

2016-09-21 18:22:42 UTC

I just want a job at this point

2016-09-21 18:22:51 UTC

and a skill that would allow me to get jobs

2016-09-21 18:23:05 UTC

but if it's just to live that's not as hard as people make it out to be, you just need to work mentally hard

2016-09-21 18:23:23 UTC

you know how to win a maze

2016-09-21 18:23:26 UTC

you work backwards

2016-09-21 18:23:34 UTC

look at the jobs available around you, learn those skills.

2016-09-21 18:24:03 UTC

if no jobs around, move.

2016-09-21 18:24:21 UTC

go to a metro that has low living costs but close to high wage jobs

2016-09-21 18:24:42 UTC

What I really need is to move to a low rent high gun freedom state

2016-09-21 18:24:43 UTC

and get a job

2016-09-21 18:25:04 UTC

idk what that is. maybe virginia someplace

2016-09-21 18:25:15 UTC

i know the jobs are there. idk about freedom and low rent.

2016-09-21 18:25:46 UTC

also freedom is... relative. long commute is a form of fucking slavery imho

2016-09-21 18:26:06 UTC

i got no experience teaching

2016-09-21 18:26:08 UTC

I need to live in a state that allows NFA

2016-09-21 18:26:11 UTC

ban

2016-09-21 18:26:12 UTC

basically I teach english or something

2016-09-21 18:26:19 UTC

So I can get some SBRs and shit

2016-09-21 18:26:23 UTC

like a local private school

2016-09-21 18:26:27 UTC

nice

2016-09-21 18:26:27 UTC

and they're like sure come on in

2016-09-21 18:26:33 UTC

What country?

2016-09-21 18:26:34 UTC

USA?

2016-09-21 18:26:41 UTC

no, asia

2016-09-21 18:26:43 UTC

ah

2016-09-21 18:26:45 UTC

why don't you learn one topic really well and get into being an instructor for it professionally

2016-09-21 18:26:50 UTC

esp since you're a sub

2016-09-21 18:27:30 UTC

learn some newish tech like... Docker or saltstack or something

2016-09-21 18:27:47 UTC

and become an instructor, make slides, learn a speech and a bunch of commands

2016-09-21 18:28:14 UTC

that's a ton of $$$ since people who go to those are sponsored by their employers

2016-09-21 18:28:34 UTC

it's like $2-3k a pop per student for maybe 8 hours of instruction

2016-09-21 18:28:45 UTC

Can someone eli5 docker. I've been messing with it but don't really understand it

2016-09-21 18:28:52 UTC

the teaching degree can open doors

2016-09-21 18:28:57 UTC

And their explanation wasn't helping

2016-09-21 18:29:05 UTC

i feel like it's on purpose

2016-09-21 18:29:20 UTC

because the core tech isn't exactly mind-blowing, the abstraction is a way of hiding complexity

2016-09-21 18:30:09 UTC

not like what they're doing isn't complicated, but it doesn't really help the "plan" to tell people what happens when a container starts or how that's facilitated.

2016-09-21 18:31:50 UTC

so anyway, I'd love to be able to gift high school students or kids in general the amazing gift of knowledge and learning, but in my experience, there's a lack of maturity and the love of learning itself can't be taught, it has to be individually self-discovered

2016-09-21 18:32:41 UTC

chinks seem to be really good at substituting that with some sort of individual cultural mandate which is why they're so good at being awesome students but they're fuck-all useless at learning things on their own
