It's hard to determine what Japan's path forward is. The current government is obsessed with GDP growth and is okay with foreign workers as long as Japanese companies can treat them like shit.
That last part is true. If foreign workers had any protections the Japanese companies would say, "screw it, it's too expensive."
So my deal with the japan question is a lot of Americans love anime and japanese culture, which is fine, but most japanese people don't feel the same way. They think we're fat and stupid and ruin the world haha

Japan is a strange country. The current party in power has ruled the country since the 1950s, and no real opposition exists. The last Japanese nationalist party that challenged the status quo was the Japan Restoration Party, which in 2012 received 20% of the vote, only to dissolve a year later. As of now it's hard to determine their popularity. A recent poll showed 2/3 of Japanese seeing the increase in foreign workers as positive. So that tells you something.
