until removable batteries become normal again

2019-04-10 18:09:21 UTC

if the v20 dies, i still have my galaxy s5 that works fine i can use til i get a new v20

2019-04-10 18:10:26 UTC

im hoping that eventually all the features that have been phased out of phones lately will come back in style

2019-04-10 18:11:16 UTC

removable batteries are nice, but not really needed for me

2019-04-10 18:11:30 UTC

since modern batteries are mostly 4000mAh+

2019-04-10 18:11:56 UTC

and the battery in my phone is easy to change

2019-04-10 18:12:11 UTC

i keep my phones for so long that if the battery wasnt removable, it would force me to get a new phone

2019-04-10 18:13:08 UTC

plus im one of those guys that likes to take out the stock battery and replace it with a 10000mah battery and make their phone the size and weight of a brick

2019-04-10 18:13:38 UTC

on my phone you just unscrew two philips screws, disconnect the fingerprint ribbon cable, unscrew 10 smaller philips screws, and remove the battery connectors

2019-04-10 18:13:56 UTC

hard to screw up

2019-04-10 18:14:02 UTC

i would do that sort of thing with my phone but im afraid of the replacement batteries in general or batteries in the unopened ones degrading over time in the warehouse, unmaintained. then when those are gone the 'refurbished' phones are always just used phones from other people with little more than being wiped, and the reason those are being sold instead of being used is that the batteries are shot anyway

2019-04-10 18:15:38 UTC

yeah replacing a 'nonremovable battery' can be easy depending on the phone

2019-04-10 18:16:21 UTC

this is my phone

2019-04-10 18:17:17 UTC

if i tried to put a big battery like this on a phone that didnt have a removable battery it would both be bigger and have less capacity

2019-04-10 18:17:41 UTC

so im gonna stick with this til removable batteries come in vogue again

2019-04-10 18:17:56 UTC

they make battery cases for some phones

2019-04-10 18:18:02 UTC

i had a big battery like that for my s5 as well

2019-04-10 18:18:22 UTC

yeah i know they do, but they are even bulkier with less capacity

2019-04-10 18:18:52 UTC

im curious about that

2019-04-10 18:18:56 UTC

whats your capacity

2019-04-10 18:19:00 UTC

10k

2019-04-10 18:19:51 UTC

thats a lot

2019-04-10 18:20:46 UTC

i like not having to charge my phone

2019-04-10 18:21:56 UTC

thats impressive. im going to see i can find a battery case like that

2019-04-10 18:22:02 UTC

i doubt there are many

2019-04-10 18:24:15 UTC

theres a 10k case for the galaxy note 8

2019-04-10 18:24:36 UTC

or there used to be at one point

2019-04-10 18:26:04 UTC

man modern phones kinda suck

2019-04-10 18:26:41 UTC

yeah

2019-04-10 18:27:15 UTC

and thats why im sticking with my old phones til the phone manufacturers get their head out of their butts again

2019-04-10 18:31:03 UTC

i think its more likely to get worse before it gets any better

2019-04-10 18:32:01 UTC

i think theyre going to keep making them worse so people are more likely to replace them after two years because less people are wanting to keep buying them

2019-04-10 18:32:26 UTC

picking proper phones also helps with the issue

2019-04-10 18:32:37 UTC

dont pick the "2600mah/ 3200mah" bullshit

2019-04-10 18:32:51 UTC

6000mAh or around there

2019-04-10 18:33:37 UTC

and proper amoled display with true black background

2019-04-10 18:33:55 UTC

you can get easily week of lifetime from the phone

2019-04-10 18:34:42 UTC

as much as i would love removable battery its just health risk to anyone not only "so-so" knowledge about them

2019-04-10 18:35:11 UTC

but what manufacturers should do is stop fucking gluing/welding that shit to phone/case itself to prevent professional/hobbyist repairs

2019-04-10 18:35:26 UTC

how are they a health risk?
