Well except if you hit it with very small caliber, those kind of drones aren't made to be very tough

2019-06-04 09:37:58 UTC

i mean

2019-06-04 09:37:59 UTC

thats sula 30

2019-06-04 09:38:25 UTC

there aint much to hit unless you can fuck gyro

2019-06-04 09:38:35 UTC

Oh I was thinking of a wider wingspan

2019-06-04 09:38:44 UTC

Then it's even worse

2019-06-04 09:38:57 UTC

its basicly just urban cruise missile

2019-06-04 09:39:02 UTC

If you hit the main body you'll probably fuck up the insides

2019-06-04 09:39:03 UTC

miniature tomahawk

2019-06-04 09:39:13 UTC

if they are not armored on military gear...

2019-06-04 09:39:18 UTC

Which will contain the telemetry and communication instrument

2019-06-04 09:39:26 UTC

You can't really put armor on it

2019-06-04 09:39:41 UTC

It's a small drone, not a fighter jet

2019-06-04 09:39:44 UTC

thick enough glass if its visualy guided and done

2019-06-04 09:40:03 UTC

Thick bullet proof glass isn't weightless

2019-06-04 09:40:06 UTC

small camera hole does not need that much glass to be protected

2019-06-04 09:40:23 UTC

Same for the body frame

2019-06-04 09:40:34 UTC

i mean it aint hellfire what has eye size of a fist what gimbals

2019-06-04 09:40:56 UTC

i watched a video where some guys were flying an RC plane, and they would fly it around, land it, then use a holesaw to put a hole probably the size of a coke can in it, then try to fly it again and by the time it was finally not able to fly anymore, there was more plane gone then there was left
so its gonna be pretty tough to stop something thats flying at you

2019-06-04 09:41:54 UTC

and if that wingspan is 2 meters then that pod in the midle is probly closer to 20-30 cm?

2019-06-04 09:42:07 UTC

RC plane don't carry a 2kg payload, nor military grade com equipment

2019-06-04 09:42:32 UTC

nor have military grade motors and engineering in them

2019-06-04 09:42:40 UTC

rc planes *can* and *do* carry a 2kg payload

2019-06-04 09:42:48 UTC

Which is shit if you've been anywhere near military grade equipment in your life

2019-06-04 09:42:56 UTC

so indeed shooting small and fast fucker like that whats coming right at you from any angle would be nightmare

2019-06-04 09:43:15 UTC

shoot it with CIWS?

2019-06-04 09:43:24 UTC

^the only option^

2019-06-04 09:43:24 UTC

CIWS would be overkill

2019-06-04 09:43:30 UTC

And not even sure it's gonna pick it up

2019-06-04 09:43:36 UTC

:DDD CIWS

2019-06-04 09:43:38 UTC

(might, but not sure)

2019-06-04 09:43:49 UTC

and destroy everything near behind or around it

2019-06-04 09:43:50 UTC

:D

2019-06-04 09:44:05 UTC

To me it's just a small gadget that looks good on specs but isn't really a viable option in a real environment

2019-06-04 09:44:07 UTC

for car whats idea is to get close undetected pop drones and fuck off

2019-06-04 09:44:15 UTC

the intention of CIWS is exactly not to shoot anything behind it

2019-06-04 09:44:27 UTC

that thing is quite horrible infantry wise

2019-06-04 09:45:30 UTC

Plus if you need any kind of precision with it (and since it only got a 2 kg payload you're not gonna use it to take down buildings I guess), you'll need some heavy coms in order to not be jammed easily

2019-06-04 09:45:49 UTC

i mean with CIWS spread, and ammo size and speed you are certain to hit anything behind that thing

2019-06-04 09:45:51 UTC

and since the article states "diving at speeds of 180 kilometers an hour"

2019-06-04 09:45:57 UTC

it's implied they are up in the sky
