question is how much face they want to lose on political field versus how weak they think their foundation for their country is
i mean if they back down and "let rats jump on tables"(their view) it can lead into messier stuff from incountry political power graps all the way to takeover (unlikely but possible)
specialy now that human rights movements etc are exploding all over the world
it all comes down to how scared the communist party are for losing control over "mainland" too versus take hit on already shitty reputation

and nobody complains from other nations due "not my problem they still make products for us"
