Based HKers

2019-09-04 06:59:05 UTC

I am rooting for the HK protest but I don't see how there could be a good ending to that

2019-09-04 09:08:07 UTC

Last time it ended with decreasing morale by arresting a university professor

2019-09-04 09:39:38 UTC

Well I can see a 'good ending', there's just gonna be a shit ton of collateral damage

2019-09-04 09:45:41 UTC

If you consider tiannamen Square to have had a "good ending" then sure

2019-09-04 10:15:08 UTC

so its not over

2019-09-04 10:15:13 UTC

now the shit just starts

2019-09-04 10:16:51 UTC

1 / 5 ? demands anyway (didnt open the link due on mobile)

2019-09-04 10:16:59 UTC

playing for fools :D

2019-09-04 11:02:01 UTC

To be fair only three of the demands matter. The unconditional amnesty for protestors is an impossible pipe dream and the classification of the events isn't going to make or break the movement regardless of whether it's changed or not.
As for the remaining three, she has promised to withdraw the bill upon the next legislative session and has now taken measurable steps towards setting up an independent commission to investigate police conduct

2019-09-04 11:03:29 UTC

Beyond that, direct universal democracy (another pipe dream) seems to be much closer now that she's willing to accept dialogue

2019-09-04 11:05:16 UTC

tl;dr watch the video

2019-09-04 11:12:37 UTC

How much of this is sincere and how much of it will be faithfully enacted remains to be seen. I don't expect much from this woman. Some treats to placate the masses, empty promises of democratization and affordable housing. But I would not be surprised to see it pull a lot of support from future protests, now that the majority of their goals have ostensibly been reached. Most moderates should be swayed, especially with them returning to school. A lot of uncertainty in days to come. But one thing for sure is that any future civil disobedience and mass demonstration can be branded as radical separatist action and punished as such

2019-09-04 11:16:12 UTC

more in terms of "will be branded.." tho

2019-09-04 15:50:36 UTC

to be fair she's not in control

2019-09-04 15:50:57 UTC

there's definitely someone behind the scene doing everything

2019-09-04 15:51:04 UTC

she's just a puppet

2019-09-04 15:55:04 UTC

don't you know that a large part of the hong kong rulers are simply corporate cock sucking puppets
