Yeah for sure, lots of things fall into that

2019-02-17 04:55:43 UTC

I think it varies quite a bit

2019-02-17 04:56:32 UTC

Maybe I'll be able to get an internship after college

2019-02-17 04:56:35 UTC

I don't know how it works

2019-02-17 04:57:10 UTC

If you're doing CS, depending on what you want to do after college I highly suggest you start developing an app or piece of software to point to

2019-02-17 04:58:01 UTC

honestly, all I want is to be self sufficient from my parents

2019-02-17 04:58:17 UTC

and have a job that isn't too stressful

2019-02-17 04:58:25 UTC

@Lawrence - TX yes, this is perhaps a much better approach for those in computer science

2019-02-17 04:58:38 UTC

Definitely. How do you get there? You're likely going to have a stressful job especially right out of college

2019-02-17 04:58:53 UTC

I mean... fast food wasn't stressful lol

2019-02-17 04:58:57 UTC

but I need more than that

2019-02-17 04:59:08 UTC

@mella I think the point is, is that generally it cannot hurt you. For the most part, it can only help.

2019-02-17 04:59:28 UTC

I've never not hired, or heard of someone being turned down for a job for having an internship

2019-02-17 04:59:47 UTC

A lot of companies use internships to see if they want you as an employee long term

2019-02-17 04:59:49 UTC

Did you have an internship? Frankly I never did one after college.

2019-02-17 05:00:01 UTC

@TMatthews absolutely

2019-02-17 05:00:14 UTC

Saw multiple people get hired after successful internships

2019-02-17 05:01:13 UTC

Are post-college jobs really that stressful?

2019-02-17 05:01:40 UTC

im not disagreeing with you, @Lawrence - TX. i only believe a more individualized path will differentiate between two applicants.

2019-02-17 05:01:53 UTC

Well it depends @Jacob

2019-02-17 05:02:00 UTC

CS? probably

2019-02-17 05:02:05 UTC

I'm gonna need some time to de-stress after this

2019-02-17 05:04:17 UTC

i held an internship position within the gene therapy field at an ivy league institution. if anything, short story here, it confused people as to what i was aiming for

2019-02-17 05:04:58 UTC

therefore, my argument is decide on something that will set you apart, @Jacob

2019-02-17 05:08:21 UTC

Thanks, I appreciate that

2019-02-17 05:29:26 UTC

>be me
>getting a degree in social sciences
>professor emails asking if I'm interested in grad school opportunities
>thinks to self "hell no I couldn't keep my mouth shut about the marxist corruption of anthropology"
>emails professor back "no, not right after college, I want to work first"

2019-02-17 05:39:07 UTC

staying in college long enough to get a master's degree in *any* subject takes some serious dedication

2019-02-17 05:43:33 UTC

I'm only 23 and in high school I remember being taught about the concepts of braindrain and cultural diffusion when two cultures interact with one another for an extended period of time, But I doubt that's taught in high schools anymore, it would probably be considered racist and xenophobic.

2019-02-17 05:58:07 UTC

I just want to make America Great.

2019-02-17 05:58:32 UTC

I would get a masters in some sort of applied geography/remote sensing, but definitely not Anthro. The field is rife with people who consider the entire basis of anthropology to be institutionalized racism. Basically any mention of a biological connection to race will get you ostracized from the academic community

2019-02-17 05:58:35 UTC

I just wanna have a Trump Steak on my plate.

2019-02-17 06:02:20 UTC

nasty well done steak

2019-02-17 06:02:22 UTC

no thank you

2019-02-17 08:00:05 UTC

@Drover Tom I have to take anthropology 102 right now and it's a joke.

2019-02-17 08:00:50 UTC

It's literally "there's only one race the human race" for an hour and a half. It's utter nonsense

2019-02-17 08:03:10 UTC

It's so telling how they try to program people like that. It's so against nature that They have to start this type of programming in grade school

2019-02-17 08:04:04 UTC

My professor made us read an article about how race doesn't exist so I refuted it and got 100%

2019-02-17 08:04:06 UTC

Dude as an experiment I started writing the most globohomo content in my English class and the teacher likes me more now haha

2019-02-17 08:04:42 UTC

@Jacob really? That's surprising.

2019-02-17 08:05:10 UTC

It's such a blatant display of indoctrination
