I think there is reasonable doubt that Smollett will receive any jailtime for this. At most I think he'll pay a small fine or receive a suspended sentence.
I wouldn't be surprised if he gets let off the hook entirely.
@Virgil I think you are right about that. There is very little to discourage these people from behaving like this or reporting fake hate crimes. Tucker did a great segment on this last night.

But as it was mentioned above, there is no specific legalization for this, so at worst they would have to be convicted of making a false police report.
The things that keep happening like this are only gonna further expose who they really, people are waking up
Congress would never pass legislation making these types of malicious accusations into a crime
