Of course you’re taken seriously. I’ve seen no evidence not to. I think he means that when you’ve had a chance to learn and understand both sides of the issue...without bias.

That is a multi-faceted issue. Not only is there the medical side there is the education side. Not to mention research grants etc..
The question shoud be "How much economic activity does it generate?"
