Community gives education

2018-12-28 22:52:32 UTC

That is true

2018-12-28 22:53:24 UTC

Family is just teaching basics to a child

2018-12-28 22:53:34 UTC

Community can do the same tbh

2018-12-28 22:53:48 UTC

But just because a man is lost doesn’t mean he cannot have children that will not be lost like he was

2018-12-28 22:53:55 UTC

You do have a point

2018-12-28 23:22:07 UTC

I'd say the family.

2018-12-28 23:22:21 UTC

this is a good question.

2018-12-28 23:22:38 UTC

I think the individual is the 'base unit' since it's the smallest thing that you can break a society into.

2018-12-28 23:23:01 UTC

the individual is the fundamental unit of morality and law, the family of the economy, and the tribe/collective/community of politics

2018-12-28 23:23:52 UTC

see that is interesting, I'd say that the community has an economy more than a family @AnarchoReign

2018-12-28 23:24:08 UTC

All these systems must be analyzed with these units in mind: "does this law uphold the rights of the individual" "do these entitlement reforms strengthen family ties" "do these political reforms strengthen communal cultrual bonds

2018-12-28 23:24:22 UTC

@Porpoise so did the commie, look where they ended up

2018-12-28 23:24:33 UTC

lol

2018-12-28 23:24:53 UTC

the community has an economy, but the family is the fundamental unit, if the family fails, the economy will fail in the long run

2018-12-28 23:25:03 UTC

ah I see

2018-12-28 23:25:17 UTC

families produce future workers, they invest in the future by nurturing the future labor force

2018-12-28 23:25:21 UTC

why can it not be boiled down to the individual then

2018-12-28 23:25:35 UTC

because of concern for future generations?

2018-12-28 23:25:36 UTC

because and individual cannot produce babies

2018-12-28 23:26:11 UTC

an individual by themselves on an island is not an economy, even a group of individuals merely trading are not a long run economy, they can't invest in the future

2018-12-28 23:26:42 UTC

babies are the future investment, without them, the old can never retire and will be in constant survivor mode

2018-12-28 23:26:46 UTC

till the day they die

2018-12-28 23:27:52 UTC

capitalism is based around the individual, hence sub-replacement fertility rate which requires mass immigration

2018-12-28 23:28:25 UTC

I would say an economy is composed of different agents using resources, so there is nothing to say that they have to replenish and reproduce. Sure, I will agree that families must prosper for us to have what we call a 'good' distribution of resources but I don't think it's necessary to examine the economy purely at that level.

2018-12-28 23:29:07 UTC

ignoring the fact the social fallout of such a policy, that relies on perpetual shithold countries, and so is inherently destructive, or at least poverty is then endogenous to your model

2018-12-28 23:29:35 UTC

you can't make all countries posperous, cause then you won't have an immigrant labor force to pour into your country

2018-12-28 23:30:06 UTC

saying the individual is the basic unit doesn't mean that you ignore the wider picture

2018-12-28 23:30:29 UTC

capitalists look at the society very often I'd say

2018-12-28 23:30:37 UTC

instead of single agents

2018-12-29 00:51:59 UTC

It depends, any society who's unit does not go past the individual is doomed to failure. Our society has been lasting this long because of the family being the unit, allowing for long term success, the individual being the main focus is a modern invention.

2018-12-29 00:53:15 UTC

An invention derived from our consistent decadence into wholly materialistic objectives.

2018-12-29 00:54:04 UTC

that's how the modern world has twisted it, but individualism originated from the concept of freedom

2018-12-29 00:54:25 UTC

I'm not saying it's right to base a civilization off of it, just that it has its place

2018-12-29 00:54:38 UTC

Funnily enough even a neo liberal understands that the family unit is essential https://youtu.be/MRpEV2tmYz4

2018-12-29 12:55:20 UTC

the family unit, reducing the base unit of society breaks down the actual structure of society in somethign that is basically social anarchy and in itself infinitely subversive and incapable of actually cooperating

2018-12-29 12:56:00 UTC

when the family is the base unit of society, since it is actually something that can continue society, we see societies propser and an order come out of it that actually works together towards the common goal of ensuring a good enviorment and future for offspring

Daily Question 🔖 :

Is College really as left leaning as people say it is? If you have experienced any libtards on campus, try to share a story of a leftist sperg-out.
