2018-08-29 04:09:08 UTC

@Vaghar tl;dr Controlled Substances Act prohibits marijuana

2018-08-29 04:11:55 UTC

Well yes, of course

2018-08-29 04:12:24 UTC

Though this is a discussion on marijuana legality, not saying that people should use it

GOP turnout is not low (it's about the same as 2014). It’s Dem turnout that’s high. And that’s what could cost the GOP the House.

Typically in midterms there is a turnout drop off with younger voters and non-college educated voters.

The first dropoff favors the GOP. The latter dropoff didn’t matter...until 2016 (when Trump won them over) and now that could hurt the GOP (because they're now Trump's base).

As these elections have shown, turnout among whites with a college degree is up, and even higher among women in that subgroup.

While the Obama-Trump voter still exists, the issue, again, is that they may not show up this time. But that may not matter for 2020.

Moving from a 2018 to a 2020 electorate may help Trump on balance, even with higher younger turnout (won't be that high anyway).

Obama-Trump voters will be more likely to show up then, so college educated whites won't have as much weight then.

I really hope there is a debate set up, this along with wanting to abolish ICE and believing a corporate tax increase is a tax cut, not the sharpest knife in the drawer

2018-08-29 15:12:00 UTC

@[Lex] GOP turnout is low in the special elections but high in the primaries

😂😂

2018-08-29 15:32:00 UTC

@FLanon Do you think Gillum could win

2018-08-29 15:33:46 UTC

I think DeSantis is more likely to win, but I'm not going to Hillary Effect it

2018-08-29 15:34:29 UTC

Won't Gillum turn out people who don't normally vote in midterm elections

2018-08-29 15:34:33 UTC

like Black voters

2018-08-29 15:34:49 UTC

Yeah, he's a fucking idiot who wants to abolish ICE, wants to do medicare for all and a medicaid expansion *at the same time*, is under FBI investidation, and thinks a tax increase is a tax cut for corporations

2018-08-29 15:35:21 UTC

And that's the flip side of it and why I'm not going to be arrogant, those black voters will have a higher turnout
