How did you get your interpretation of the Bible @Christmas EveryDay many people on this server use biblical literalism as their agruments (mainly the flat earthers) however I know this way of looking at the text is only a recent development
that is corupting the bible away from its true meaning to fit a differnt meaning
[1 John 2:27]
Which is why Fluff Pepper and I tend to also use literalism in debate
i didnt say people were right for trying to make the bible fit their narrative
i am not saying they are wrong
i am just saying they do it
indeed
and if they twist it away from the true meaning to support their own view, that is a corruption of the meaning of the bible. it is being used in the wrong way
the word of God is alive though
saying it only means 1 thing seems kinda limiting
so then there is no true meaning
I was about to say that
every1 has a very personal walk with Jesus
:GWchadThink:
nah
😡
if i get a differnt meaning from the bible then you do. that means there isnt 1 true absolute meaning
[1 John 2:27]
it has a straight verse telling people to buy slaves (just an example) that cant really be interpreted any differently
what bothers you about buying slaves?
because you shouldnt be able to own people and force them to do what ever you want
*forceably own them
what if you wanted to marry my daughter and agreed to work for me until i said it was ok
a) i am gay
then i'd call you a dickwad
b) what satan said
c) you wouldnt own me
^
you would be my servnt for a period of time
ok, do i get paid?
yeah i really dont see problem with that, why would i
well i would probably let you have a living quarters
a few meals
no
i wouldnt do that
A few meals
also, buying someone as a slave is not the same as "they agreed to work for me"
what if i caught you stealing and wanted you to work it off ?
