What's esiogesis and exegesis?

2018-09-12 08:22:20 UTC

your meaning vs intended meaning

2018-09-12 08:22:27 UTC

eisogesis is like bouncing ideas off verses to gather meaning, exegesis is understanding scripture as it is written and the culture it was written to, and the original meaning

2018-09-12 08:22:49 UTC

both are important

2018-09-12 08:22:49 UTC

Both sound flawed

2018-09-12 08:23:42 UTC

if it can used to justify any position then what makes you think you interpretation of the bible is correct

2018-09-12 08:24:30 UTC

i believe the way i understand the bible fits exegetically

2018-09-12 08:24:48 UTC

i will tell you how i feel about things like the authors intended meaning and trying to study that and sticking to it. It doesnt really matter what the author meant to say. All that matters is what people get out of it. If the author did a good enough job then people will get what the author intended. However, everyone is differnt they see things differnt. So if you get something differnt out of it. So what, its your personal views

2018-09-12 08:25:33 UTC

again, thats a general statement not just aimed at the bible

2018-09-12 08:25:47 UTC

i believe the bible, as its written, and as the holy spirit leads me

2018-09-12 08:26:26 UTC

and let it lead you how you think it does, but you cant be surprised when someone differnt from you sees the bible saying much differnt things

2018-09-12 08:26:47 UTC

As the holy spirit leads you seems like you allow your own baises to lead your reading

2018-09-12 08:26:53 UTC

again, eisogesis should be in line with exegesis

2018-09-12 08:27:00 UTC

but it isnt

2018-09-12 08:27:02 UTC

it wont be

2018-09-12 08:27:17 UTC

it was written 2000 years ago, people are differnt

2018-09-12 08:27:36 UTC

people view the world differntly then people 2000 years ago did

2018-09-12 08:27:43 UTC

you dont understand so it cant be, is that your arguement?

2018-09-12 08:28:36 UTC

no, my arguement is that its a written text and people view things differently and sometimes in a contradictory way.

2018-09-12 08:28:58 UTC

so its impossible to have a one size fits all aproach

2018-09-12 08:29:18 UTC

which is what you are saying

2018-09-12 08:29:26 UTC

^^^

2018-09-12 08:29:32 UTC

i said before everyone has a very personal relationship with Jesus Christ

2018-09-12 08:29:54 UTC

which would be a reason why a text cant fit everyone

2018-09-12 08:30:03 UTC

so it doesnt have a particular intrepretation

2018-09-12 08:30:10 UTC

cant fit and agree with everyone

2018-09-12 08:30:12 UTC

[1 John 2:27]

2018-09-12 08:30:13 UTC

2018-09-12 08:30:43 UTC

yes what fluff said. There cant be one solid definit meaning

2018-09-12 08:30:55 UTC

everyone gets differnt meanings from it

2018-09-12 08:31:05 UTC

[1 peter 3:18]

2018-09-12 08:31:06 UTC

2018-09-12 08:31:22 UTC

does that have more than 1 meaning?

2018-09-12 08:31:32 UTC

how can we know?

2018-09-12 08:31:40 UTC

good answer

2018-09-12 08:31:57 UTC

how can we know the "true" meaning of it if everyone is gonna have a different interpretattion

2018-09-12 08:32:05 UTC

i bet i can easily come up with multiple meanings for that

2018-09-12 08:32:19 UTC

You need the holy spirit living inside of you to teach you

2018-09-12 08:33:36 UTC

lol

2018-09-12 08:34:09 UTC

Jesus was going to be killed painfully for sins he committed, some times he commited the crimes for a just reason some times for an unjust. He wanted to show us how to get closer to god. He was going tokilled but was given a burst of energy and was able to escape punishment

2018-09-12 08:34:26 UTC

i love you and i greatly appreciate your interest
