Mike you have yet to defend any of your topics, instead you call me child and ignorant. I will just take this as a win and move on to my next challenge. Who else wants to present me with either a factual debate or moral question?

2019-04-23 17:12:35 UTC

@Pinnaplia id actually like to know why it is that you support the death penalty. i have nothing against you for it, im just curious.

2019-04-23 17:21:12 UTC

@eva I have done a fair amount of research on it, and the death penalty actually saves more lives than it takes. Not to mention that almost all of the lives it takes are lives that belong to criminals that don't deserve redemption or life. The only changes that the death penalty should undertake is reverting back to a firing squad as it is consistent and cheap. And it should be used more often as getting rid of hopeless criminals saves our government money so it can be used for better purposes and so a murderous criminals has no chance of ever killing again.

2019-04-23 17:21:43 UTC

i suppose

2019-04-23 17:21:53 UTC

but thanks for the explanation

2019-04-23 17:21:59 UTC

No problem

2019-04-23 17:23:56 UTC

Though I do understand why people oppose it, but if you just do a simple Google of those murdered and those executed by the death penalty, it's a massive difference. Getting rid of the penalty would make the killing severely rise so to me it's just a simple comparison of numbers and risk. Wether it is morally correct is not something I try to debate.

2019-04-23 17:24:40 UTC

eh, to each their own

2019-04-23 17:25:35 UTC

I agree with Pinnaplia's take on it, however I'm not convinced that the death penalty significantly keeps down murder rates

2019-04-23 17:26:57 UTC

my point of view on it is that it also stops overpopulation a tiny bit

2019-04-23 17:27:14 UTC

But if it does, then it may give a more positive benefit to society that could surpass the costs.
Also, the criminal justice system is improving as far as we understand it

2019-04-23 17:27:31 UTC

And by improving, I mean standards and quality

2019-04-23 17:27:56 UTC

So executing an innocent gets more and more unlikely

2019-04-23 17:28:13 UTC

Just like escaping prison becomes more and more unlikely

2019-04-23 17:28:31 UTC

yeah

2019-04-23 17:28:34 UTC

i mean for me it's more moral, as i don't think anyone deserves death. i think there are worse fates.
for example, paul bernardo. a canadian murderer. he has life in maximum security prison without any chance of perole. for me i think it's about justice.

2019-04-23 17:28:54 UTC

ecks wee

2019-04-23 17:30:03 UTC

It hardly deals with overpopulation at all, like what? Less than 100 executions per year in Texas?

2019-04-23 17:30:49 UTC

Even abortion isn't that great at it, but much better of course

2019-04-23 17:35:58 UTC

Yeah, I use the same logic for why I'm pro abortion.
I think anybody who is having a kid and kill it bc whyevee they do it is dumb and wrong.

If they got raped then it's fine to me
If they are under 18 then it's fine for me

The only reason I support abortion is because of what would happen if we ban it.

First people would then do their own abortions and then that would be banned to until pregnent women are basically constantly watched and forced to give birth. Or a scenario like this would take place. That would be okish until, somebody dies.

Worst case scenario is that the government or a hospital or something forces a girl to give birth, the girl dies birthing the kid, and the kid dies as well. Now this isn't a birth anymore, it's an execution.

There would definitely be riots (especially if the victim was a person of color because then it's a hate crime as well)

It would just suck very quickly.

2019-04-23 17:39:36 UTC

Ireland had an abortion ban for a long time and fairly recently, within last couple years or so, they went pro-choice.
From my understanding, it wasn't really bad for them as a society, there wasn't a significant abortion problems. The main problems were illegal shipping of abortion pills and people travelling to other countries to obtain them.

2019-04-23 17:40:16 UTC

Travelling to other countries, not a "problem" exactly, but you know what I mean...

2019-04-23 17:42:44 UTC

most of my politically based choices are solely on morals, so i'm pro-life, but i think that abortion could be necessary in some cases (that one little kid who got pregnant is a good case, though she gave birth and didn't die. but in similar cases i think abortion might be necessary). I personally wouldn't get an abortion no matter what, but I understand why others would.

2019-04-23 17:44:23 UTC

I get stuck on the right to life vs right to privacy issue in regards to that topic as those intersect on the abortion debate

2019-04-23 19:45:27 UTC
