2020-04-29 02:28:45 UTC

Police started moving to trunked systems in the 90's, and by 2001 were mostly all moved over.

2020-04-29 02:29:04 UTC

@TheClassyRandom oof, right

2020-04-29 02:29:42 UTC

Our chief basically said fuck em no point in going if they’re gonna keep refusing treatment

2020-04-29 02:30:16 UTC

We have mostly dope heads around here, give them narc an and they just wanna act like they are fine

2020-04-29 02:31:28 UTC

So far we haven’t had to use narcan

2020-04-29 02:31:57 UTC

I'm on the east coast in the hotbed of it

2020-04-29 02:32:44 UTC

In rural America dopeheads everywhere.

2020-04-29 02:33:02 UTC

Louisiana here

2020-04-29 02:33:31 UTC

These commie idiots give them places to shoot up around here

2020-04-29 02:34:13 UTC

Yeah I saw that. I was like the hell is going on over there.

2020-04-29 02:34:33 UTC

They get to have fun. I'm jealous I respect myself too much to join in

2020-04-29 02:35:50 UTC

Commiefornia is the first place we’re gonna have to take back honestly

2020-04-29 02:36:17 UTC

Break legs and shit just to get morphine and oxys prescribed here

2020-04-29 02:36:22 UTC

It’s ridiculous

2020-04-29 02:36:24 UTC

Just load the fault lines with tactical nukes and send them on their way

2020-04-29 02:39:38 UTC

Well that’s another question but how are we gonna get tac nukes and it’s almost time to go frogging 🤤

Anyone know anything about using CHIRP or other alternatives to conventional localized internet data networks? Does it have a limited range, do I need a license? I currently still use flashdrives as part of a sneaker network, but it's a hassle. I don't trust VPNs or TOR, it's all shady and never 100% secure

2020-04-29 04:22:19 UTC

I thought TOR was pretty solid as long as you don’t log into stuff or have it full screen. Apparently that’s how they got DPR

2020-04-29 04:22:20 UTC

Im running Surfshark VPN, would also like to know

2020-04-29 04:23:33 UTC

The problem with TOR as far as I know is that you have to connect to a node which could be compromised. I have heard that using a VPN plus TOR helps.

2020-04-29 04:35:19 UTC

But the vpn owner can track you

2020-04-29 04:35:32 UTC

From my understanding I’m no expert

Someone will have your data unless you have your own end to end encryption. End of the day it's all about who you trust to have it, and anything with a signal or on a public net can be intercepted.

2020-04-29 11:42:09 UTC

Been reading the beginner guide to radio and holy fuck is it a lot of shit

2020-04-29 13:23:06 UTC

@yeetasaurus - Comms is pretty tech heavy stuff. Think OG Nerds.

2020-04-29 13:52:43 UTC

I can see that. But I'm interested so far so I'm gonna keep reading when I get off of work

2020-04-29 13:58:27 UTC

Tacomas with 300W power inverters
MilSurp brick satcomms with hand radios
1990s ideapads running CHIRP
Etrex Garmins on wrist straps

2020-04-29 14:38:47 UTC

I may have to look into getting the amature license now i was interested in it before but you all sold me on it now. I know this one is a two-way comm but does anyone use Luiton walkies for communication or practice with them or is it just better to use HAM

2020-04-29 14:42:45 UTC

I got them for bug-out bags because I was expecting March and most of April to be much worse than it actually was

2020-04-29 14:43:36 UTC

All I have is the beofang 5

2020-04-29 14:44:11 UTC

i want the UV-5R really badly I have seen nothing but great reviews on it

2020-04-29 14:46:10 UTC

but I also want a dual band radio too ( i know those boxes will typically be more expensive but I feel like I'd enjoy learning with that a bit more)

2020-04-29 14:47:45 UTC

@KaiBran - definitely look into a dual band radio. The more spectrum you can carry in one rig the less you have to carry (one radio instead of two, or three).

2020-04-29 14:49:20 UTC

I mean just looking online Im also thinking about them being portable and it doesnt look like it matters either way as long as you have a power source for the dual band on the go or at your F.O.B

2020-04-29 17:36:08 UTC

Anyone know a less expensive alternative to the peltor comtac hearing pro? Don't wanna drop a grand on ear muffs

2020-04-29 17:36:58 UTC

Safariland headphone adapters under your normal ear pro

2020-04-29 17:37:59 UTC
