For a light recoiling gun, you’ll want a pretty resistant spring and a heavier than average buffer.

2020-05-01 05:02:07 UTC

Huh. I read on jp's site that they suggested a lighter buffer when going with a light bcg

2020-05-01 05:02:11 UTC

Heavier buffers would be slower and slam, rather than snap.

2020-05-01 05:02:35 UTC

It’s a real balancing act.

2020-05-01 05:02:40 UTC

Yeah, you'll have to go light and light, because if you have a light BCG, it won't have enough mass to go back and eject the cartridge

2020-05-01 05:02:51 UTC

I've had experience messing with it, it's a pain in the ass.

2020-05-01 05:03:02 UTC

Tuning gas systems can be a bitch

2020-05-01 05:03:24 UTC

@Artemis VLTOR A5 RE is what you want

2020-05-01 05:03:50 UTC

That sounds like it's between carbine and rifle length

2020-05-01 05:03:57 UTC

Heavier buffers are a band aid for overgassed AR’s, you shouldn’t be building a rifle based on that

2020-05-01 05:04:04 UTC

Rifleine

2020-05-01 05:04:07 UTC

It’s a rifle length RE that takes carbine stocks

2020-05-01 05:04:51 UTC

Adjusting your gas block is gonna do a lot.

2020-05-01 05:05:10 UTC

A lot of your tuning will likely be done there.

2020-05-01 05:05:33 UTC

Does the vltor a5 take regular rifle springs or a proprietary one?

2020-05-01 05:05:46 UTC

Regular rifle spring

2020-05-01 05:05:53 UTC

Hmm okay

2020-05-01 05:06:00 UTC

But a proprietor buffer

2020-05-01 05:06:13 UTC

They’re made by a few companies so they’re not like rare or anything

2020-05-01 10:29:55 UTC

Does anyone in here machine their own parts? Asking for legitimate business reasons.

2020-05-01 12:07:24 UTC

FEDBOI

2020-05-01 12:07:30 UTC

Kidding 💜

2020-05-01 12:07:39 UTC

...unless

2020-05-01 12:08:19 UTC

isnt the law in america you dont have to do any paperwork with parts as long as the ATF doesnt classify that part as the 'reciever' or whatever?

2020-05-01 12:10:54 UTC

You don’t have to do any paperwork as long as the ATF doesn’t know

2020-05-01 12:11:09 UTC

true

2020-05-01 12:11:21 UTC

but you can also legally make your own guns right?

2020-05-01 12:11:30 UTC

Fuck if I know lol

2020-05-01 12:11:56 UTC

buy about $20 worth of steel tubing at home depot, make a pipe shotgun and hand it in to a police buyback program for $100

2020-05-01 12:12:12 UTC

ive heard a lot of people do that

2020-05-01 12:12:37 UTC

Some kids in my beautiful home state of New Jersey did that and they shut it down

2020-05-01 12:12:47 UTC

y tho? big sad

2020-05-01 12:14:00 UTC

They’re big gay

2020-05-01 12:14:28 UTC

i swear ive seen yt vids of americans showing off their supposedly legal homemade gun collection

2020-05-01 12:18:22 UTC

Well I wouldn’t be surprised 😂

2020-05-01 12:29:51 UTC

Yeah you can legally make your own guns as long as you don't make them with the intent to sell them. Gets a little sketchy but technically it is legal to sell them later on, you just can't make them with the intent to.

2020-05-01 12:40:49 UTC

I have a firearm company, try to start manufacturing, I need someone who can make the parts

2020-05-01 12:54:29 UTC

Oh that’s hype dude

2020-05-01 12:59:27 UTC

Why would we post videos? Like nothing screams “come fuck with me” more than videos.

2020-05-01 14:00:52 UTC

In Canada its legal to build certain guns depending upon what type of firearms licence you have (PAL or RPAL)

2020-05-01 14:55:17 UTC

Recommendations for a holster that can hold a glock 17 with light and optics? Seems like I could only find one or the other on safariland website.
