Omg, that is cringe, hahaha

2020-05-01 15:50:41 UTC

And checked safariland, they don't make the kind of holster I want. The ones with light cuts, don't have optic cuts.

2020-05-01 15:54:01 UTC

JM custom kydex makes some good stuff. I have an owb holster from them for competition and class, but it looks like they don't do active retention. Very high quality kydex though, it's thick and grips like crazy.

2020-05-01 15:57:27 UTC

Hmmm, thick you say?

2020-05-01 15:57:38 UTC

It's ugly as hell, but if it works, it works.

2020-05-01 15:58:22 UTC

Comes in different colors at least, though lead times can be a bit long

2020-05-01 16:00:01 UTC

I've got one for my vp9 with tlr1. I also have a couple cheap kydex holsters for comparison, and they feel completely different, almost like they're using different materials. The cheap ones are super flimsy but this thing is rock solid.

2020-05-01 16:01:17 UTC

I've also noticed that no companies make holsters with a TLR-3 as a light choice. So I may have to spend a little and also get a TLR-1

2020-05-01 16:10:40 UTC

Fuck it, I might just have to find a guy to make me a custom holster again.

2020-05-01 16:10:52 UTC

I had a custom one made, but I didn't have it molded for a light.

2020-05-01 16:10:59 UTC

Yeah tlr1 is the only streamlight flashlight that people usually make holsters for unless it's a subcompact, in which case tlr6

2020-05-01 16:11:26 UTC

I might just upgrade to the TLR-1 anyway for it's more rugged construction.

2020-05-01 16:11:54 UTC

Plus, I sitll got one of those old ass Army drop legs that were thick nylon. Hahaha

2020-05-01 16:12:45 UTC

It's a good light. They also make extended switches for them

Roast my little hackjob. Chopped the 17 frame to a 19 and added grip tape

2020-05-01 16:13:24 UTC

There's much more to be done. That's just the start.

2020-05-01 16:13:59 UTC

But yeah, the TLR-1 is nice, I'll probably go with that. Or look at a Surefire X300 maybe.

2020-05-01 16:14:00 UTC

I like it 🤷🏽‍♂️

2020-05-01 16:14:02 UTC

Not sure yet

2020-05-01 16:14:24 UTC

Like honestly, the grip tape was an awesome cheap mod.

2020-05-01 16:14:55 UTC

It's actually a camoflauge barrel wrap tape. But... it's basically a thick padded grip tape

2020-05-01 16:16:44 UTC

I might end up upgrading the trigger. I'll putting a red dot and some suppressor height sights on though. Maybe get a threaded barrel down the line too.

2020-05-01 16:17:24 UTC

Gonna regret that grip tape later bud

2020-05-01 16:19:46 UTC

So far I haven't. I even went so far as to put it on my ARs with A2 handles. But hey, if it gets to be a pain, I'll remove it.

2020-05-01 16:21:37 UTC

Actually, while I have some time. I'm gonna do a little shooting before work.

2020-05-01 16:22:03 UTC

Why regret it? @Crye_Salesman

2020-05-01 16:23:41 UTC

I can think of two possible reasons... 1 That most tapes have a sticky residue that can be left on the weapon's surface. Mine does not, so I'm good there. And 2, the material itself can start to irritate the shooter or possibly come loose from friction/wear and tear.

However, even if that were the case, it is very simple for me to remove.

2020-05-01 16:24:02 UTC

It's not a permanent fixture, just something to add a little extra meat on the grip.

2020-05-01 16:27:26 UTC

Yeah that’s true. Idk I feel like I would like grip tape.

2020-05-01 16:27:38 UTC

Stippling is nice but it’s a little slippery to me

2020-05-01 16:29:24 UTC

I use Monett Self-Cling concealment wrap. Camo form LT

2020-05-01 16:29:40 UTC

Made in the good ole USA

2020-05-01 17:33:24 UTC

Looking to build a budget AR-15, don't really care if I have to piecemeal and assemble the parts but I do want it to be complete as opposed to an 80%er. Unless one of you kind gentleman has a drill press and experience with it. Any suggestions on online gun markets/manufacturers

2020-05-01 17:34:13 UTC

Well... There's always PSA, but if you want to spend a little more for better QC, Aero.

2020-05-01 17:34:49 UTC

I would recommend you save up a little bit, and use Aero receivers.

2020-05-01 20:46:03 UTC

Many thanks, I was looking at those two. Seemed like a safe bet. Aero even has the pew pew pew model lower for sale currently

2020-05-01 21:14:48 UTC

Drilling out an 80% will only really save you like $40-$50. If you don’t have the equipment and aren’t planing on doing several I would just go with a stripped lower. Pick one up for around $100.

2020-05-01 21:31:19 UTC

Second for a stripped lower build you can save a bunch of money. Psa anderson and bear creek are good enough.
