Was new to armor and didn't know there was a difference, rather have something certified
Yeah when it comes to getting shot at that piece of mind helps
Yeah, I asked them why they weren't certified and I didn't like their answer
Of course you could get shot in the face which would piss me off after spending money on plates
Listed is referencing the certified list
😆 that’s a shit explanation
Tbh getting shot in the face is cheaper
Yeah, was looking for reassurance and lost faith lol
"And what not" sounds like imma look like some Swiss cheese
Not very reassuring.
They said 2 week lead time
So for like an extra 100
I get certified plates, a better carrier and shipping this week
Yes I would have done the same
Thats including 2 day shipping I payed on top cause I want my plates ðŸ˜
V nice
Got my whole set up
Looks like I just signed my life away for college and a Camero
I bought plates and a carrier from Spartan. Got it on sale in February for less than $500. 11x14 plates, 6x8 side plates and their XL carrier since I’m built like a whiskey barrel
Gonna be covered like a tank tho
Have you used side plates before?
I was curious if they're uncomfortable
Nevermind
Lol
Can you still move around alright?
Oh yeah I can shoot from a squat or prone position no problem
It’s all about how you attach them and what your cummerbund does to support them
I'm just gonna face towards the fire
Pro tip to save money on plates
When walking though they do tend to dig into your arms a bit so I just hang the shoulder straps. In a combat situation I’d rather be mildly uncomfortable and have that extra protection.
Hang on to the shoulder straps
Yeah fair
I think side pates would make my set up unbearable
Have a backpack that would make it dig into me if SHTF
I mean plate bags can be integrated into the harness system of sustainment packs
As can armor components and load bearing
Smaller guys can probably get away with not having the side plates. Hoplite has some nice shoulder plates. Would be a nice addition if they were made to work with other carriers
I was in the med chat the other day and a guy recommended 4 tourniquets, one for each limb (he knows more than me so know mines a joke lol)
All I was thinking was if I need 4 I don't think I'm gonna make it lol
I think one or maybe two is plenty lol
Here’s me a while ago running an LV-119 integrated into a eberlestock G4. No overlapping materials, one harness system touching me, still maintaining front and back plates and ammo/medical
What size are the plates?
@gumper86 yeah, one or two TQ’s *per limb* is about right
