Hell, I know the few neighbors that have stayed but I think I’ve talked to my newer neighbors only twice

2018-09-25 13:00:10 UTC

i talk with mine every week and have drinks with some others

2018-09-25 13:00:15 UTC

sometimes we will swim in my pool

2018-09-25 13:00:45 UTC

My family used to invite the street over for pool parties

2018-09-25 13:00:47 UTC

Good times

2018-09-25 13:01:43 UTC

I think the last time we all got together was at my parent’s next-door neighbor’s funeral

2018-09-25 13:02:23 UTC

people come from all over one thing i do notice is the younger people are tyhe less they have attachements they have to their roots and where they come from

2018-09-25 13:02:42 UTC

its this society we live in

2018-09-25 13:03:48 UTC

You’re 100% correct

2018-09-25 13:04:07 UTC

I think it’s tied to how often they move around and how often their parents moved around when they were kids

2018-09-25 13:04:25 UTC

They never grew a connection to one house/street/city etc

2018-09-25 13:04:26 UTC

people right now are forgetting to pass on their heritage t their kids

2018-09-25 13:04:33 UTC

i see this even in my friends and their kids

2018-09-25 13:04:43 UTC

my siblings kids as well

2018-09-25 13:04:51 UTC

they dont tell them about their history

2018-09-25 13:05:00 UTC

and public schools dont encrouge it

2018-09-25 13:05:08 UTC

all schools really

2018-09-25 13:06:45 UTC

I had to research my family’s history and heritage since my grandparents never bothered teaching my parents

2018-09-25 13:07:27 UTC

i mean even then if you know your ethinc backround you should pass that on as well as american history

2018-09-25 13:07:36 UTC

My little cousin has no hope as he live too far away for me to see him often and he has no make role model in his immediate family

2018-09-25 13:08:00 UTC

He’s already getting brainwashed by public schooling

2018-09-25 13:09:52 UTC

My Dad tried his best to teach me about his family history but unfortunately because of how splintered his family his(His dad is the son of a Spaniard who moved to Bolivia and his mom his a second gen German immigrant who’s disappeared off the face of the earth)

2018-09-25 13:10:03 UTC

It’s difficult to learn much

2018-09-25 13:10:19 UTC

i dont really think thats unfortunate he has a colorful history to draw upon

2018-09-25 13:10:29 UTC

and ethnic backround

2018-09-25 13:10:34 UTC

It is, it’s unfortunate because his family is very splintered

2018-09-25 13:10:38 UTC

and of course american history in general

2018-09-25 13:10:47 UTC

We don’t know where a lot of his relatives went

2018-09-25 13:10:52 UTC

then it would be unfortunarte that his family is splintered

2018-09-25 13:11:15 UTC

im not just talking about family members though

2018-09-25 13:11:20 UTC

He learned a lot of his history later in his life because of this

2018-09-25 13:11:35 UTC

I know, I’m quite proud of my german and Bolivian/Spanish heritage

2018-09-25 13:12:00 UTC

same but also my American heritage

2018-09-25 13:12:16 UTC

100 percent

2018-09-25 13:14:00 UTC

I love reading about my ancestors that took part in various historical events, probably my favorite is my Great x 4 grandfather who passed on his Springfield that he used during the civil war

2018-09-25 13:14:43 UTC

its good to keep track of those sorta things

2018-09-25 13:15:02 UTC

Or my Great uncle who’s bomber was shot down over the Netherlands and he was buried in our ancestral plot there

2018-09-25 13:15:19 UTC

(My mom’s side is Dutch and german)

2018-09-25 13:15:34 UTC

I plan to take a trip over there to see it

2018-09-25 13:16:50 UTC
