if you're hte king of england, leading an army whose main fighting force is peasants, you just scare the crap out of everyone else as 1. you have line infanty 2. you have ranged weapons 3. you show no mercy
actual feudal armies suck dick in real battles
calvary/heavy infantry are basically ncos with their local underlings
if the knight/samurai dies, the men-at-arms don't owe jack to anyone as the feudal chain is broken. since lower level officers die at ridiculous rates always in warfare, fighting a real battle as a feudal monarchy is suicidal
especially if you're higher up than a knight and they want your land/title, if you lose you don't get ransomed to go fight for them or someone else, they just chop your head off and say they're the new duke/baron/count/whatever
