but I'm not sure I've seen anyone else tie it to personality traits like that

2017-08-15 14:24:12 UTC

its something many realize implicitly

2017-08-15 14:24:22 UTC

consider the stereotype of the genius

2017-08-15 14:24:30 UTC

basically, a kook

2017-08-15 14:24:35 UTC

yeah

2017-08-15 14:25:30 UTC

wait

2017-08-15 14:25:32 UTC

so what happened

2017-08-15 14:25:40 UTC

nothing

2017-08-15 14:25:42 UTC

they shutdown the former altright server

2017-08-15 14:25:45 UTC

init?

2017-08-15 14:25:48 UTC

yeah

2017-08-15 14:26:05 UTC

the altright.com server

2017-08-15 14:26:17 UTC

ah i see

2017-08-15 14:26:50 UTC

this place isn't really connected to that

2017-08-15 14:26:55 UTC

yeah i get it

2017-08-15 14:27:33 UTC

@UOC the basic idea:

2017-08-15 14:27:41 UTC

Genius is a certain personality and certain traits

2017-08-15 14:27:44 UTC

what are those traits?

2017-08-15 14:27:57 UTC

The ability to become very good at something (in terms of deep understanding)

2017-08-15 14:28:12 UTC

which requires higher than average intelligence, and dedication towards a certain field

2017-08-15 14:28:23 UTC

Then the ability to be creative and innovate

2017-08-15 14:28:53 UTC

partially that requires high IQ as well, but only up to the depth of understanding point

2017-08-15 14:29:01 UTC

real creativity is psychoticism

2017-08-15 14:29:28 UTC

clinical psychoses are the extreme end of a line that has genius and artist on it somewhere

2017-08-15 14:29:46 UTC

this is easily proven, artists tend to have a preponderance of schizophrenia

2017-08-15 14:30:07 UTC

it is my belief that there is no categorical difference between the artistic and scientific genius

2017-08-15 14:30:35 UTC

nothing that divides them beyond just being involved in arts vs. sciences

2017-08-15 14:32:27 UTC

Really? I would agree, depending on who you count as artistic geniuses. I think think "raw" creative genius often lacks the sort of Conscientious personality that seems necessary for other geniuses

2017-08-15 14:32:40 UTC

but for someone like Bach or whoever, they seem to line up

2017-08-15 14:32:42 UTC

ah but geniuses are often dedicated

2017-08-15 14:32:46 UTC

but almost never conscientous

2017-08-15 14:33:06 UTC

certainly no genius is more conscientous than the average person

2017-08-15 14:33:40 UTC

usually the successful people have other figures in their life

2017-08-15 14:33:41 UTC

or some environment

2017-08-15 14:33:50 UTC

that allows them to live comfortably and sensibly

2017-08-15 14:34:26 UTC

well maybe I'm using the wrong word. dedicated is better

2017-08-15 14:35:03 UTC

my problem is Charlton has already surpassed and consolidated anything I could say

2017-08-15 14:35:05 UTC

but at the same time

2017-08-15 14:35:09 UTC

just linking a book doesn't end well

2017-08-15 14:35:24 UTC

so I end up quoting or summarizing him with a smattering of my own ideas
