and nationalism has nothing to do with egalitarianism. they aren't necessarily mutually exclusive, but in a nationalist society you will have a strong heirarchical structure which is going to be difficult to maintain if you embrace egalitarianism

The premise of nation depends on a unified constituency, this is egalitarianism
