@Parasite Mormons were always polytheists

2018-01-29 02:54:07 UTC

What about you

2018-01-29 02:55:09 UTC

And mormons are hardly polytheist

2018-01-29 02:59:48 UTC

When are you going to give up tjat charade anyways? Mormonism is gay as fuck. Just wait til you get some pseudo conservative gay fag to infiltrate and wreck house

2018-01-29 03:00:38 UTC

Bunch of gay husbands

2018-01-29 03:02:03 UTC

Joseph Smith would be creaming himself in his grave

Technically Mormons are polytheists, as they believe in the godhead being 3 separate entities, Elohim, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost, rather than one being, like most traditional Christian religions

2018-01-29 06:39:10 UTC

Also there are other gods and goddesses outside of the god head.

2018-01-29 06:39:23 UTC

They actually believe you can become a god

2018-01-29 06:39:38 UTC

Oh and there’s also the Heavenly Mother

2018-01-29 06:39:47 UTC

So yeah, definitely polytheistic

2018-01-29 08:06:09 UTC

@Parasite mormons are exact polytheists. We believe our god has a god over him, and we can become gods, our 3+ members of the godhead all have wives who are gods, etc. In one of our canonical books, we even have a retelling of Genesis that actually says "the Gods" every time it references another step of creation. Our prophets said in the past that the whole purpose of life and our religion is to "prepare to bring us into a society of the gods." I don't know what else we can even do to qualify as polytheists other than what we have already done.

2018-01-29 08:06:39 UTC

also FYI as far as I can tell, mormonism is already wrecked by conservadad boomers

2018-01-29 08:06:55 UTC

critical elements such as polygamy, racism etc. are completely shoved under the bus and the writings of the original founders are pretty much verboten

2018-01-29 08:07:14 UTC

if Joseph Smith's story was true, the FLDS are a lot closer to right than the salt lake LDS

2018-01-29 08:07:35 UTC

I believe in the FLDS version of it entirely, I just don't have any religious community to sanction it

2018-01-29 08:09:06 UTC

also for me personally I have no opinion either way about Warren Jeffs, I haven't the foggiest clue if he is a real prophet or not, so I can't formally align with FLDS

2018-01-29 08:13:25 UTC

but they still do polygamy and reject POC, so they are far closer to what the books say

2018-01-29 08:13:32 UTC

so if any of the books are right at all, they are therefore more right

2018-01-29 08:16:06 UTC

If the city of Enoch preached to everyone except the children of Cain "because they were black, and had not place among us," and were taken directly up to heaven to be with God, then i cannot be a sinner for being racist

2018-01-29 08:17:00 UTC

Because they employed worse than mere distaste toward negroes, they excluded them from salvation itself

2018-01-29 08:18:12 UTC

And God signed off on them entirely saying "you have passed your mortal test perfectly, just come home"

2018-01-29 08:19:00 UTC

By despising and excluding POC i am only trying to be as holy as the holiest people on record in my religion

2018-01-29 10:43:01 UTC

@Exilarch plenty of the regular old testament originally used words for "God" that actually meant "The Gods", particularly the older books

2018-01-29 10:43:08 UTC

I don't think it's exclusive to mormonism

2018-01-29 14:09:38 UTC

Jews didnt really become monotheist until the end of their captivity under babylon. They took influence from the religion of their Persian liberators.

2018-01-29 14:10:42 UTC

I've had that meme planted in me too

2018-01-29 14:10:50 UTC

but I don't remember if the sources were credible or what the evidence was
