it seems like there is some deep level binary choice, where a person at a young age sees some conflict occur and either asks "what is the best outcome?" or "what makes me feel good?"
that simple interpretive choice in that moment determines their slant, and years of confirmation bias take it to its logical conclusion
one twin looks at a cat eating a lizard and says "this is unavoidable, I guess I prefer the cat over the lizard though" and goes off to become an entrepreneur who quietly believes in space nazi society and runs his company accordingly, the other twin sees it and is moved to tears at the lizard's plight, grows up to get a PhD in lizardology and spends his free time chanting in leftist rallies
like it's kinda weird to have grown up, I see who became what, and in hindsight I see the signs of impending liberalism were hugely present in childhood
