@Ben Centrism is apathy

2018-10-06 05:22:27 UTC

It is pragmatism at its worst

2018-10-06 05:22:28 UTC

Apathy is death

2018-10-06 05:22:58 UTC

Is centrism based on a principle?

2018-10-06 05:23:22 UTC

Yes

2018-10-06 05:23:31 UTC

the principle of indecisiveness

2018-10-06 05:25:34 UTC

So let's say health care. On the complete right, the principle is the free market. On the complete left, the principle is equality. The center is pragmatism, trying to balance them out.

I am going to do a face reveal

2018-10-06 05:28:09 UTC

What salary would you guys call high coming out of uni

2018-10-06 05:28:13 UTC

To stand on a viewpoint where, regarding the US, gun control is needed, but not needed to such an extent where we would start restricting the use of guns completely, as well as not having willy-nilly gun-toting anyones with the power to kill, where woudl that viewpoint be?

2018-10-06 05:28:20 UTC

Like starting salary

2018-10-06 05:28:22 UTC

I'd say it's a moderate decision, right?

2018-10-06 05:28:53 UTC

And I consider simple moderation a more central point than pushed to either side

2018-10-06 05:28:53 UTC

That's why people don't like centrism

2018-10-06 05:28:57 UTC

Because the statement is vague

2018-10-06 05:29:35 UTC

Whenever I take a test on my political views I always end up near centrist or slightly right leaning

2018-10-06 05:29:37 UTC

But yeah that would be a centrist position

2018-10-06 05:29:46 UTC

yeah that's what I'm getting too @Xenoframe

2018-10-06 05:30:10 UTC

I want to have a better understanding of politics so I lurk here whenever there are discussions about it going on <:PepeIntrastain:482328467829030961>

2018-10-06 05:30:23 UTC

When I think of Centrism, I prefer to think of it as simple moderation, not apathy. Unfortunately, its viewed as such because many Centrists ARE apathetic to most topics.

2018-10-06 05:30:36 UTC

If your views don't match the principle (in this case complete freedom vs complete "security") then you are somewhwere in the center.

2018-10-06 05:31:06 UTC

I guess it depends on the topic for me

2018-10-06 05:31:20 UTC

Most left leaning views I dont agree with

2018-10-06 05:31:55 UTC

yeah but what does the gang weed empire have to say about it

2018-10-06 05:31:57 UTC

I like pragmatism

2018-10-06 05:32:02 UTC

@☦ Slouch ☦ legalize crystal weed

2018-10-06 05:32:02 UTC

I hate pragmatism

2018-10-06 05:32:09 UTC

ill be pragmatic to an extent

2018-10-06 05:32:13 UTC

Not philosophically, but the manifestation of it.

2018-10-06 05:32:20 UTC

but you gotta decide on what you will be pragmatic about

2018-10-06 05:32:31 UTC

Pragmatism philosophically would by definition lead to the best results.

2018-10-06 05:32:49 UTC

@Xenoframe what political test are you taking

2018-10-06 05:33:16 UTC

Political compass is not a very good one if that's what you're using

2018-10-06 05:33:17 UTC

I see where you're coming from with Pragmatism, fine by theory, terrible in execution, right?

2018-10-06 05:33:24 UTC

But that is an empty statement. "pragmatism is the best because it's the best" is no guiding principle.

2018-10-06 05:33:31 UTC

Hmm

2018-10-06 05:33:32 UTC

Yes
