It's a bit much to then say "tear it all down"

2018-07-14 18:21:57 UTC

And even if you wanted to, the practical reality is that isn't ever happening

2018-07-14 18:22:28 UTC

Bro all were saying is that you’re in direct violation of the idolatry verses

2018-07-14 18:22:45 UTC

Alright and that's a fair point. That doesn't make it necessary though. Early christians certainly didn't use it. And I understand that it isn't a realistic goal to think everyone will jusst stop in their tracks, but being true to the Bible matters over wanting please everyone

2018-07-14 18:23:02 UTC

I don't want to please everyone, fuck the non-Christians of the world for all I care

2018-07-14 18:23:18 UTC

But to call it idolatry is also wrong

2018-07-14 18:23:27 UTC

The purpose is not the veneration of the symbol

2018-07-14 18:23:44 UTC

We do not worship the Cross, and if we did then I'd agree with you

2018-07-14 18:23:51 UTC

These Catholics kneel before an Idol of Mary, do they not

2018-07-14 18:24:06 UTC

Those Catholics are asking for intercession

2018-07-14 18:24:15 UTC

Kneeling is not in and of itself worship

2018-07-14 18:24:39 UTC

why ask for "intercession" when you could just pray to Jesus himself? Or did Jesus simply die so you could ask for dead men and women to pray for you?

2018-07-14 18:24:43 UTC

You’re kneeling/bowing to an idol. That’s not allowed according to the text

2018-07-14 18:25:24 UTC

I'm sure they did pray to Christ, as to why they would ask for intercession, it's probably because they want all the help they could get

2018-07-14 18:25:38 UTC

And calling Mary a "dead woman" is just plain inaccurate

2018-07-14 18:25:59 UTC

The Bile clearly says that the dead are dead

2018-07-14 18:26:05 UTC

Yeah, good thing that

2018-07-14 18:26:13 UTC

You’re kneeling/bowing to an idol. That’s what that is. You can argue in circles about why it’s okay, but it’s kneeling/bowing before an idol. Do you deny that?

2018-07-14 18:26:22 UTC

But saying that she's a dead woman is inaccurate. That's the Virgin Mary, and that's more than just a dead woman

2018-07-14 18:27:05 UTC

I deny that it is idolatry. It is asking for intercession from the Virgin Mary, which is perfectly acceptable in Catholic doctrine

2018-07-14 18:27:26 UTC

And who're you to dictate the faith?

2018-07-14 18:27:27 UTC

You don’t deny that you kneel before an idol in prayer then, in violation of the verses?

2018-07-14 18:27:39 UTC

I’m not dictating lmao

2018-07-14 18:27:40 UTC

>more than just a dead woman
>only mentioned 19 times in the Bible, astronomically less than any other "important figure"

2018-07-14 18:27:53 UTC

Would you call the Virgin Mary unimportant?

2018-07-14 18:27:59 UTC

I’m reading the text and asking if you’re actually following what it said

2018-07-14 18:28:08 UTC

You clearly aren’t, which is why you’re reacting so negatively

2018-07-14 18:28:18 UTC

Oh she's important alright, just not someone worth that much reverence

2018-07-14 18:28:19 UTC

You kneel before idols

2018-07-14 18:28:35 UTC

Well that's an opinion call, Small Al

2018-07-14 18:28:55 UTC

There's no dictation going on around here, either. The Bible is clear about this. Christianity isn't a religion that can be "interpreted" any way you want

2018-07-14 18:29:11 UTC

Oh come on now, Christianity has more interpretations than we can count

2018-07-14 18:29:25 UTC

This argument proves that. The change in doctrines proves that

2018-07-14 18:29:26 UTC

So I'm guessing you are accepting of homosexuality, right?

2018-07-14 18:29:30 UTC

Fuck no

2018-07-14 18:29:34 UTC

You can ignore it all you want - you kneel before idols. Have a good day lol

2018-07-14 18:30:19 UTC

But you'd have to an idiot to believe that the religion doesn't get interpreted

2018-07-14 18:30:31 UTC

The existence of the Nicene Creed is proof of interpretation

2018-07-14 18:30:57 UTC

The argument of divinity or non-divinity, the argument of saint, of whether angels can be asked for intercession, etc., etc.

2018-07-14 18:32:15 UTC

Matthew 15:9
But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

Catholicism is a perversion, not an "interpretation." The Bible isn't some mysterious book, it's clear and to the point. Tell me WHAT exactly is the point of "intercession?" Why is it necessary, why do catholics use it? Because as far as I can tell there is NOTHING absolutely NOTHING that mentions things like this.

2018-07-14 18:32:55 UTC

Show me where in the Bible it says that you should ask angels or saints to pray on your behalf
