The only problem when taking it apart is taking off the 4 corner pads on the screen, usually you screw up if you're not careful, which is what happened to me when I wanted to paint mine

2016-11-06 19:04:46 UTC

I mean it works but just looks ugly

2016-11-06 19:04:59 UTC

paint your screen?

2016-11-06 19:05:12 UTC

No the plastic shell

You have to take out those corner pieces to remove it, it's also a pain to remove

2016-11-06 19:06:08 UTC

Once you get off the plastic shell everything gets a lot easier as long as you're careful

2016-11-06 19:06:32 UTC

do you need a special wrench or something?

2016-11-06 19:06:39 UTC

Just a small Phillips

2016-11-06 19:07:04 UTC

A small flathead is good to have too though for prying stuff

2016-11-06 19:07:38 UTC

by the way, the whole thing stinks of the screen fluid

2016-11-06 19:07:44 UTC

Gross

2016-11-06 19:07:48 UTC

are you sure just replacing the screen would be fine?

2016-11-06 19:07:51 UTC

It should be contained in the module though

2016-11-06 19:08:00 UTC

In theory as long as it's just the screen module, then yes

2016-11-06 19:08:14 UTC

Other things could be broken though

2016-11-06 19:08:25 UTC

I'll try tinkering around later

2016-11-06 19:08:27 UTC

thanks

2016-11-06 19:08:33 UTC

Yup, no problem

2016-11-06 19:08:41 UTC

Just depending on what you want to replace it'll take more time

2016-11-06 19:09:10 UTC

If I were you I'd transplant the circlepad from the old one and put it in the new one, and possibly later on repair the older one

2016-11-06 19:09:40 UTC

Do you know what exact philips screwdriver you need for the screws?

2016-11-06 19:09:50 UTC

I'll be passing by a tool shop tomorrow

2016-11-06 19:09:52 UTC

any philips

2016-11-06 19:09:57 UTC

it's a standard size

2016-11-06 19:10:07 UTC

a philips is just a crosshead

2016-11-06 19:10:08 UTC

Not sure, I just used a jeweller Phillips

2016-11-06 19:10:30 UTC

oh

2016-11-06 19:10:32 UTC

I think it would be a Phillips 2 (for the size) but really as long as it's small it should be okay

2016-11-06 19:10:37 UTC

I thought it was refering to the brand

2016-11-06 19:10:44 UTC

Nope just the head type

2016-11-06 19:10:52 UTC

diff sizes as hatsune said

2016-11-06 19:11:03 UTC

well shit.

2016-11-06 19:11:09 UTC

I've been living a lie.

2016-11-06 19:11:22 UTC

I thought philips patented a type of screwdriver

2016-11-06 19:11:42 UTC

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

2016-11-06 19:12:18 UTC

There are a lot of ribbon style cables when you're digging into the 3DS too so be careful.

2016-11-06 19:15:22 UTC

I'll probably use a tutorial or something.

2016-11-06 19:15:34 UTC

IFixIt has a good one, it's the one I followed

2016-11-06 19:15:52 UTC

They tell you literally everything you need and everything you need to do
