they end up breaking the flow of the game and i really dislike that
Well yeah but it goes back to normal as the attack finishes normally
yeah I'm not saying that it's bad from a gameplay perspective
So it flows back in
just that it's too flashy
I suppose, maybe
think of it like if you had the same in a fast paced game like a hack n slash / beat'em all or whatever
if you had like 15sec animations in the middle of it, it would mess up the pace
that's the effect that I feel
Eh, it depends imo
yeah well, maybe it's just me, but I don't really like this
Yeah, it may just be a personal thing I guess
just like I wouldn't expect the same thing to happen in a hack n slash
imagine if there was the same kind of thing in Platinum Games stuff
like, 10 sec animation with camera change when you do a combo with raiden in MGR
I don't expect such thing and I think that it hurts the pace of the game, but yeah, personnal stuff I guess
maybe i'm too used to 2D sideviews in fight games
spent a lot of time in arcades when I was younger
now all this flashy stuff serve no purpose to me and you end up looking at a cutscene in the middle of a fight 😦
good luck doing cancels and all those kind of stuff in the middle of your cutscenes
Making cel shaders is fun.
I personally enjoy shaders that look kinda like this. Toon, but also 3D looking.
Or sometimes games try to make it look a lot more toony and try to cut out the 3D look.
(Same shader, btw, just with different values / colors applied. Same lights, I think I just tweaked the camera angle a bit.)
ayy lmao
They're here
They're watching

towelie didn't Mortal Kombat have these "flashy animations" which you complain about
the last ones yeah
I didn't like them though
for me mortal kombat, it's this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6hQic0o_Mc
I mean the SNES one
or genesis
same gen, right
nah the snes / genesis one was okay
no camera changes, etc
doesn't it have super moves or whatever
fatality ?
