House Republicans are anxiously awaiting the release Wednesday of a congressional estimate on their recently passed ObamaCare replacement bill that could force them back to the drawing board.

The GOP-led House passed the bill earlier this month. While President Trump held a celebratory event at the White House to mark the accomplishment, the legislation still has not been sent to the Senate.

That's because the House is waiting for the final audit from the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office which will estimate the bill's impact. And the legislation needs to hit certain deficit-reduction targets -- saving at least $2 billion -- in order to allow the GOP-led Senate to use special rules and pass it with a simple majority.

If the final CBO 'score' finds the House bill does not meet those targets, then the chamber’s GOP leaders may have to rework it and hold another vote.

House Republicans say a re-vote is unlikely. But the possibility has leaders in a wait-and-see mode -- and there's no guarantee a revised bill could pass on a second vote, considering the backlash some Republican members experienced in their districts after the first round.

Former US President Barack Obama received a rock-star welcome in Berlin as he appeared at a public debate Thursday with Chancellor Angela Merkel, whom he praised as one of his “favorite partners” during his presidency.

Security was tight in front of the German capital’s iconic Brandenburg Gate, where Obama and Merkel appeared on a podium before thousands of people attending a gathering marking the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation. Police helicopters patrolled the skies and snipers with balaclavas watched the scene from nearby rooftops.

After lauding Merkel as someone who had done “outstanding work,” Obama launched a defense of his own presidency and the values of liberal democracy championed by both leaders.

Citing the rise of nationalism and xenophobia in parts of the world, Obama told the crowd: “We have to push back against those trends that would violate human rights or suppress democracy or restrict individual freedoms.”

In a veiled reference to his successor Donald Trump, Obama also spoke of the need to see development aid and diplomacy as essential aspects of national security policy.

“We can’t isolate ourselves. We can’t hide behind a wall,” he said, to cheers from the audience.

Merkel, who hosted Obama at the same spot four years ago, was due to travel to Brussels later Thursday for a meeting with leaders of fellow NATO member states, including President Trump.

Thursday’s appearance with Obama was criticized by some German opposition politicians as a publicity stunt ahead of September’s general election, in which Merkel aims to win a fourth term.

Police investigating the Manchester Arena bomb attack have stopped sharing information with the US after leaks to the
media.

UK officials were outraged when photos appearing to show debris from the attack appeared in the New York Times. It came
after the name of bomber Salman Abedi was leaked to US media just hours after the attack, which left 22 dead.

President Trump delivered a stern rebuke to NATO and European leaders to their faces Thursday, saying the security
alliance would be fighting terrorism better if members were paying their fair share for the common defense.

An academic study from researchers at Brunel University London assessed 171 men, looking at their height, weight, overall physical strength and bicep circumference, along with their views on redistribution of wealth and income inequality. The study, published in the Evolution and Human Behavior journal, ​found that weaker men were more likely to favor socialist policies than stronger men.

Brunel University's Michael Price believes this may be a product of evolutionary psychology.

"This is about our Stone Age brains, in a modern society," said Dr. Price. "Our minds evolved in environments where strength was a big determinant of success. If you find yourself in a body not threatened by other males, if you feel you can win competitions for status, then maybe you start thinking inequality is pretty good."

Taking his assessment one step further, Price wanted to factor in gym time to see if he could determine the relationship flow between strength and socialistic leanings. A federal appeals court dealt another blow to President Donald Trump’s revised travel ban targeting six Muslim-majority
countries on Thursday, siding with groups that say the policy illegally targets Muslims.

The 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a lower court ruling that blocks the Republican’s administration from
temporarily suspending new visas for people from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.
