A man who police say hurled anti-Islamic slurs at two teenage girls on a rush-hour train in Oregon and fatally stabbed
two men who tried to calm him down has been charged with murder, police said Saturday.

Jeremy Joseph Christian was being held in the Multnomah County Jail Saturday, a day after the attack. The 35 year-old
man spent time in prison for robbery and kidnapping charges years ago.

Christian is also charged with stabbing a third man. That victim also tried to settle him down. He survived the attack
which took place on a light rail train as it made stops in downtown Portland.

Christian was arrested as he tried to flee through a downtown neighborhood.

James Lowell Pennington, 57, who does not have a license to practice medicine in Colorado, was arrested Thursday and

President Trump’s National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster told reporters during a press conference at the G7 Summit in Sicily that he is “not concerned” with reports that Jared Kushner tried to set up diplomatic back-channels with Russia.

McMaster initially declined to speak on the Kushner reports but when asked if he would be concerned if someone in the administration tried to set up a backchannel with the Kremlin, he said “no,” Reuters reported.

"We have back-channel communications with any number of individual (countries). So generally speaking, about back-channel communications, what that allows you to do is communicate in a discreet manner," McMaster said, adding that “we're not concerned about it."

Kushner, Trump's son-in-law and a top White House adviser, allegedly proposed a secret back-channel between the Kremlin and the Trump transition team during a December meeting with the Russian ambassador to the U.S.

Kushner reportedly spoke with Ambassador Sergey Kislyak several times about creating that line of communication to facilitate sensitive discussions aimed at exploring the incoming administration's options with Russia as it was developing its Syria policy.

An attorney for Kushner responded late Friday about the alleged conversations with Kislyak, saying his client participated in myriad calls during that time and doesn’t recall those being alleged.

Kushner’s legal counsel has said that their client will cooperate with federal investigators and Congress.

State-run media KCNA said on Saturday that Kim Jong Un watched the test and said that defects in the system have been fixed.

The new reported test comes after heightened tensions in the Korean peninsula, and follows international condemnation of several banned ballistic missile tests the isolated nation has carried out so far this year.

Experts said some of the North's claims about its anti-aircraft systems are doubtful.

"North Korea tested the new-type anti-aircraft guided weapons system and suggested that they can even hit the stealth aircraft and ballistic missiles, but I think this is exaggeration given their level of technology at this point," Yang Uk, a North Korean expert at advisory committee for the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff, told NBC News.

North Korea's most recent ballistic missile test was conducted last week, when North Korea launched a medium-range ballistic missile. Another missile launched in mid-May flew around 430 miles before crashing into the sea, officials have said. Some other tests conducted this year ended in the missiles blowing up shortly after launch.

The U.S. military said it will try to shoot down an intercontinental-range missile in a test next week. The planned missile shoot down is intended to test the Ground-based Midcourse Defense system, the Missile Defense Agency said this week.

In an attempt to explain why British intelligence failed to prevent the deadly bombing of Manchester Arena during an
Ariana Grande performance last Monday, the UK Security Minister has offered some truly alarming statistics.

Security Minister Ben Wallace told The Australian this week that a **British intelligence database contains a list of
23,000 potential jihadists currently living in the UK**. "The figures reveal the scale of the challenge from terrorism in
the 21st century, " said Wallace of the number of potential terrorists. "Never has it been more important to invest in
intelligence-led policing."

That sobering figure was made even more troubling when Wallace revealed the severe limitations of MI5's investigative
capacity. Wallace said that **MI5 only has the capability of investigating some 3,000 individuals at any given time,
__leaving 20,000 potential threats largely unmonitored__**.

__***8 Killed In Saturday Night Massacre; Suspect Arrested***__
Saturday night, eight people were murdered in rural Mississippi at three different locations. None of the victims have been publicly identified, aside from one — Lincoln County Deputy William Durr.

Authorities arrested suspect Willie Cory Godbolt early Sunday morning. The timeline of the killings isn't clear, however it appears the murder of Durr was the last in the sequence.

Prior to Godbolt being taken away, a reporter for The Clarion-Ledger spoke with him on camera:

Godbolt [said] that he had gone to a residence off Lee Road in Bogue Chitto in order to talk about his children. At some point neighbors called police, and that's when the deputy arrived to try to calm the situation.

That's when Godbolt allegedly killed the deputy. Speaking with the reporter, the suspect apologized:

"My pain wasn't designed for him. He was just there," Godbolt said of the deputy. "We was talking about me trying to take the children home ... somebody called the officer ... that's what they do, they intervene. It cost him his life. I'm sorry."

When the reporter asked him what his intentions were, Godbolt flatly stated: "Death. My intentions was to have God kill me. I ran out of bullets ... Suicide by cop was my intention. I ain't fit to live. Not after what I've done."

*A trainee pilot has reportedly been arrested in West Sussex in connection with the inquiry into the Manchester bombing.

The 23-year-old was held on suspicion of terror offences at an address in Shorehan-by-Sea, Greater Manchester Police said.

He is the 16th person to be arrested in connection with the attack, which killed 22 people and injured more than 100.
