ok so heres my problem:
The Asgard's technology comparably to the ancients is, well, admittedly on a lower level
But heres the problem with that, the asgard were apart of the "Galactic" united nations millions of years ago, which would imply they were on a similar level to the other members, because we know all of the other races in the galactic united nations were incredibly advanced.
But by the time we see the asgard, they aren't on a similar level to the other races, in fact, they are about as tangible as the Goa' uld.
We know they didn't degrade in technology over millions of years, but this leads to another issue.
By the time we see the asgards home galaxy, its heavily implied their entire population is just on 1 planet, now that would make sense because for 1000 years they were already degrading.
But they've existed for millions of years, they should have had a population in the trillions, and their breeding problems have only existed for a relatively short period time.

Also lets be fair here, the asgard most certainly had access to the ancients technology, while i'm not sure about the ancients cloning technology, even in modern times, the idea of merely just synthesizing DNA on a computer isn't even that far fetched, why would the Asgards DNA degrade? Especially if we could have technology that can accurately record DNA and potentially reproduce it. Its not like data rot would be a problem for an intergalactic civilization thats spanned for millions of years.

I mean i get that we don't see much of them, and the show writers made them very tangible because they thought it would flow with the main characters because interactions wouldn't seem so 1 sided, but god, there has to be a lore explanation

what the hell were the asgard doing when the ancients were getting sucked to death by some bug boys

yeah like after the ancients were mostly killed off by that one plague, the galactic united nations died, but its not like they would just stop contact with their friends
