Can't wait to watch someone debunk this being a hate crime
Female privilege has gone out of control
^ and that's a fact
Umm murder is a thing, sorry some are trans
Oh I thought it meant 18 at once
Okay yeah then it's definetly not a hate crime at all
*has that smug phoenix Wright face on*
Actually all things considered the number should be closer to 90
0.6% of the population is trans
18 died
15.7K murders in 2017 (we can assume it didn't go down enough to debunk my next point)
0.6% = 1/166.66667
18 * 166.66667 = 3,000
Unless the muder rate plummeted over 70% lower (70 instead of 80 cause there's still time left in this year) then I'm right and even then it would still have to be even lower to actually be a hate crime
All this shows is that if anything people are LESS likely to murder trans people
I rest my case
Hate Crimes are determined based on the circumstances of the singular crime. The whole point of hate Crimes is to categorize violence committed against a certain subset of people
I'm sure they're "hate crimes" theyres just not enough to warrant anything close to an epidemic
I'd say violence in the United States is an epidemic but that's caused by mostly "hate" neutral causes in my opinion
@Soup Can Sam nah the article is only about straight up murders
And if you read my above comment of me debunking the notion of it being a hate crime you'll understand
yeah but thats just stating that thereโs not a wave of hate crimes, no?
the article doesnt really give much more context that that they were trans murder cases
but as individual cases they *could* be hate crimes
But it still means they're over 5 times safer than the average person
i suppose
though I think the article was focusing on people of color that are trans
which is a whole other stat
That's not really how statistics work
It doesn't mean theyre safer it just means less of them died
