thats why we get new skill

2020-02-28 05:03:06 UTC

> automation happens when the cost of automating becomes lower than the cost of workers
@Syntak
which is ALWAYS, when technology gets to a certain point

2020-02-28 05:03:10 UTC

or a skill thats hard to replace

2020-02-28 05:03:15 UTC

like, if it rains spaghetti and meatballs

2020-02-28 05:03:21 UTC

do I eat the spaghetti or meatballs first

2020-02-28 05:03:22 UTC

What do the old phone operators do for work nowadays

2020-02-28 05:03:25 UTC

if someone rather picks being a cash register as a full time job

2020-02-28 05:03:26 UTC

So the 'learn to code' argument doesn't really work, what happens when truck drivers are 50 years old, what just pay for college and start a new career?

2020-02-28 05:03:36 UTC

why should it be everyone elses problem they cant afford basic stuff

2020-02-28 05:03:54 UTC

We need a UBI supported through a VAT in order to let the people at the bottom actually have a chance at the american dream

2020-02-28 05:03:58 UTC

@OwOUwU it shouldn't

2020-02-28 05:04:36 UTC

People should just be able to break a leg and not have to spend the rest of their life in debt, and the taxes that come with that shouldn't have to affect others that much

2020-02-28 05:04:41 UTC

Doctors should be able to prescribe housing like they do medicine

2020-02-28 05:04:45 UTC

there are a limited amount of real good jobs out there,
crappy minimum wage jobs are becoming the only option for poor people

2020-02-28 05:04:54 UTC

Make corporations pay taxes, and create more expansive social programs.

2020-02-28 05:05:00 UTC

then get a desireable skill

2020-02-28 05:05:03 UTC

Income inequality and mental issues go hand and hand

2020-02-28 05:05:13 UTC

minimum wage jobs are for teens for spare cash

2020-02-28 05:05:13 UTC

Housing shortage is the cause

2020-02-28 05:05:32 UTC

Trump is a fucktard who will screw up our Coronavirus response and ruin the country. The markets are already tumbling. All of you cucks can go fuck yourselves.

2020-02-28 05:05:34 UTC

Get a degree in greek dance theory

2020-02-28 05:05:34 UTC

Minimum wage jobs are transitional jobs

2020-02-28 05:05:45 UTC

Your arguments are all valid, but the fact of the matter is, we have applied these arguments to our society, and as a result, for the first time since the spanish flu, our national life expectancy is going down

2020-02-28 05:05:55 UTC

Not for living wages toraise a family

2020-02-28 05:05:59 UTC

@OwOUwU thats a lie, minimum wage was first introduced by FDR to be a living wage. Saying its just for teens is an excuse. Millions of people live off these jobs

2020-02-28 05:06:01 UTC

coronavirus woulda hit USA trump or no trump

2020-02-28 05:06:17 UTC

If I was born in the 1950's, i have a 72% chance of doing better than my parents in life, today, I have a 44% chance

2020-02-28 05:06:21 UTC

Minimum wage should be zero

2020-02-28 05:06:29 UTC

2020-02-28 05:06:29 UTC

2020-02-28 05:06:47 UTC

@OwOUwU usa is still far and away the richest

2020-02-28 05:06:58 UTC

The only difference is its all in the 1%

2020-02-28 05:06:59 UTC

i mean pretty rich

2020-02-28 05:07:09 UTC

Rather than morr equally spread like the 50s

2020-02-28 05:08:27 UTC

No minimum wage would be great if we could trust businesses to pay employees what they worth in relation to inflation, living standards, etc.

But that trust doesn't exist. Hence minimum wage.

**we are operating on a system built off the back of WWII, based entirely on infinite growth, which is unsustainable. By creating social programs and liberal economic policies, we are leveling the playing field in the United States, and making it so that people can actually work hard to have a good life**

The argument that this will cost too much in tax is not valid, as we can just stop bombing children in the middle east and spend less money on the military. We can increase taxes by a small amount on the middle class, and for everyone richer, by a sizeable amount, maybe 30% tax rate on all money made after 150,000$.
