Granted this is rural USA boomers.
Well, not so much in real life, but the internet-dwelling type is more inclined towards normal Republican values.
Even on the .win, you'll see posts saying "taxation is theft", "repeal the 16th".
That has nothing to do with Trump's movement.
That is more the Libertarian arm of the party. Personally I want to get there too, but it takes time to move a ship this big. Trying to get guys to accept the wins we get moving towards their ideal is hard. I am glad to take any win I can get.
Personally I would love to see either a single flat tax (Herman Cain had my vote back when that traitor Mittens ran due to his tax policy).
I am leaning so much about Tarrifs from this Presidency. I was so misinformed about how that would work with global trade...

I love the Trump ideas of letting states take care of big issues. That is hitting home with many of the guys I speak with on a day to day basis.
My point was, there is a complete overrepresentation of libertarian thought in T_D. When Trump banned animal abuse videos on a federal level, there were hundreds of responses in T_D criticizing Trump for "increasing the power of the federal govt."
In reality, Trump represented a departure from Republican values, and he certainly doesn't value states rights as much as the avg. Republican.
On certain issues you are right

RINOs & Democrats are both horrible when it comes to the wall. New republican blood is good for it now. I consistently beat my libertarian friends with their BS open border arguments due to our welfare state. If we didn't allow any resources to go to illegal immigrants, they MIGHT have a point, but with Carona & the Terrorist threats, it isn't worth the risk. They end up agreeing that we need to stop the flow first if we can only choose one thing because that is getting done, but they prefer to get rid of the abused welfare state more.
Illegal immigration is much more than just an economical burden as well .
