I live in Cambridge in the UK at the moment, I know a few people who rent out rooms to people from all over the world studying in the universities here. What you said describes 95% of them

it's a lazy young adult thing, it applies to people from all races, cultures and backgrounds, they don't bother cleaning because they know sooner or later someone else will do it for them
