the reason we can't be entirely sure is cause we pretty much dk anything about dark energy

most of the evidence as of right now shows that the expansion will continue in the space between galaxies, but it also shows that gravity and electromagnetism would be stronger than dark energy meaning dark energy won’t be able to pull the objects themselves apart. so basically everything just spreads out, and there wont be enough gas and dust in one place to make new stars. and the universe freezes over

big rip is when dark energy can exceed the forces of electromagnetism and gravity, meaning it can rip celestial bodies apart. even atoms will disband once the speed of expansion exceeds the speed of light

the big crunch seems the least likely as of right now, but we can't really know for sure since we dk enough abt dark energy
