Secure as in I am working to ensure this server won't be shut down for any reason

2018-02-17 18:03:04 UTC

Huh. Alright. Well, I'd love to mirror it to my Nextcloud, just to make some redundancy and get it out to other posters.

2018-02-17 18:03:30 UTC

yeah again the problem being in order to run a discord bot the "user data" must be stored on a secured drive

2018-02-17 18:03:38 UTC

so while I can back it up I cannot repost it

2018-02-17 18:03:41 UTC

without user consent

2018-02-17 18:03:44 UTC

@TrustyJAID maybe i could use that pi cluster of mine πŸ˜‰

2018-02-17 18:03:45 UTC

ffff

2018-02-17 18:04:03 UTC

It is considered safe on the discord server according to discord though

2018-02-17 18:04:42 UTC

so much cleaning to do

2018-02-17 18:04:43 UTC

in other words

2018-02-17 18:05:03 UTC

download/hack up the bot, go make my own archiver

2018-02-17 18:05:29 UTC

that's the problem you'd be better off manually downloading the images by hand

2018-02-17 18:05:42 UTC

using a selfbot to download the images is also against the TOS and may result in account termination

2018-02-17 18:06:02 UTC

and again I have the bot already archiving stuff but I am not allowed to share it

2018-02-17 18:06:27 UTC

@TrustyJAID you can just mail me a flash drive πŸ˜‰

2018-02-17 18:06:35 UTC

because if someone chose to delete their message I would also have to delete that message from the archive

2018-02-17 18:06:58 UTC

it just gets really complicated

2018-02-17 18:07:02 UTC

yeahhh fff

2018-02-17 18:07:07 UTC

kinda makes me wonder why we're using discord at all them

2018-02-17 18:07:25 UTC

is there a better platform?

2018-02-17 18:07:27 UTC

it's a great platform for many things but these are the rules we all agreed to when we joined

2018-02-17 18:07:44 UTC

there really isn't a better or easier platform to work with at the moment

2018-02-17 18:07:52 UTC

and most if not all platforms abide by the same rules

2018-02-17 18:07:53 UTC

matrix/riot, where you're only beholden to the rules of the server owner

2018-02-17 18:08:10 UTC

at that rate you might as well setup an IRC

2018-02-17 18:08:53 UTC

sheeit good point

2018-02-17 18:09:21 UTC

regardless, this is all far too restrictive, and makes it damned difficult to work with

2018-02-17 18:11:46 UTC

I mean just don't break the rules and you're fine there's nothing here that is against the rules and if it is I'll be deleting it as necessary or providing the correct approach to ensuring it's safe. The restrictions are on bot developers for getting permission so I'd need permission from over 900 people here to upload their images somewhere else πŸ˜‚ but there's no problem with you as an individual to repost it elsewhere

2018-02-17 18:12:29 UTC

except that I as an individual can't just log in to my own user account with a selfbot and grab the images on my own to repost them elsewhere

2018-02-17 18:12:59 UTC

you can but you risk getting your account terminated and losing all access to discord entirely

2018-02-17 18:13:29 UTC

it's dumb but that's how discord has had to approach the selfbot problem of people spamming invites and other bad things on discord

2018-02-17 18:13:35 UTC

if there's rules against it, I really can't

2018-02-17 18:13:55 UTC

sure, i can go and hand-download the images then

2018-02-17 18:14:03 UTC

yeah people say use it at your own risk but I've run into people who have had their accounts disabled for using selfbots as of late

2018-02-17 18:14:04 UTC

aaaand then micromanage it all myself

2018-02-17 18:15:05 UTC

unfortunately yeah that'sthe only way to go about it

2018-02-17 18:17:32 UTC

Well, looks like I have some elbow grease to put in. Thank you @TrustyJAID!

2018-02-17 20:30:18 UTC

@here as you can see the server is undergoing so much needed "cleaning". It's a serious clusterfuck... If you have any suggestions to new channels or changes. It would be much appreciated <a:REEing1:406234959636856832> <a:Reeing2:406234970831716352> <:pepoDIE:407708943821832205>

2018-02-17 20:31:04 UTC

hire a maid

2018-02-17 20:31:27 UTC

if you are thinking of removing channels you could create a channel group `archived` and mark them read only

2018-02-17 20:33:20 UTC

@Kane.πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ.Nexus yeah what we are finding is its very fluid. So whats trending now isnt in 10 minutes but then in a week its hot again. Havent deleted any "meme" channel just some of the ones that didnt make any sense.. want to keep the chat limited to the "chat it up channel"
