China, and the USSR, and all of the Soviet satellite states, never claimed to have achieved communism. It would be nonsensical for those states to assert such a thing because communism is a particular societal stage where the state has entire dissolved. These states were (I don’t consider China to be this anymore and most communist and anarchist don’t either) socialist, in the Marxist sense of the word, meaning they’d initiated the domination of the bourgeoisie, and they were engaged in projects to try to propel themselves and the world towards communism @beau
